Kansas City Tuba Thief Caught!!!

File this one under: Working with the po-po is actually very productive . . .
A police sting handcuffed a suspected tuba thief, giving a University of Missouri Kansas City grad student a second chance at graduation . . .

Two months ago, thieves stole two custom-made tubas from Heston's car. It forced him to miss a spring recital and delayed graduation until Wednesday night.

Only NBC Action News was there when police, with help from Heston, caught a man trying to sell one of Heston's stolen horns in a midtown music repair shop.
And on this one I'm just going to forgo any bitching about disparity in terms of race, class or education. In fact, I think this story of the police helping a UMKC grad student is sweet and one of many examples of how that institution in no way helps to prepare their students for the real world.

  1. Knowing how much regular tubas cost my first thought was "Who leaves 2 custom made tubas in the car???" I'm glad he got them back, but I wish there were a citation you could give victims for stupidity. I wouldn't leave 10k+ worth of anything in an unsupervised car. Than again I don't trust people all that much.

The above statement begs for Tony's "race, class and education", as well as, what prepared him for the "real world"?

    Enquiring minds want to know!

  7. Amazing that the police actually did anything about this at all. They all but told me to piss up a rope when my $2500 custom trumpet was stolen out of my car in midtown.

that pic is pretty hot, but she's not blowing a tuba.

read up and maybe someday you can seduce a hot (marching) band chick with your knowledge instrumentation.
