Sordid news of eating out in Kansas City. The Co-Mayors caught having lunch with Kansas City's most disliked Republican!!!
A very awesome TKC tipster (Stand up!!!) recently spotted Co-Mayors Squitiro and Funkhouser having lunch with Jeff Roe . . . That's the same Jeff Roe that the Mayor inadvertently called "lying scum" earlier this year.
Word has been circulating in Kansas City Democrat circles that Mayor Funky and his crew are getting ready to launch an all out media assault over the "MammyGate" mess and tainting (ew) the court of public opinion right now might help turn potential jury pools his way when the trial date comes due (if there's no settlement) . . . Sadly, Roe hasn't had a lot of success as of late so I'm not sure if this strategy will be effective. Nevertheless . . . If Roe is getting involved this whole thing is going to get a lot uglier.
Fact is: The entire "MammyGate" case is yet another divisive racial issue that has marred Mayor Funky's tenure in much the same way that Cauthen debacle is marked as the time when Mayor Funky lost all of his credibility on the Eastside. On the other hand, there is a lot of support among Conservatives and reactionary white folks for anything Mayor Funky does that offends people of color . . . But using these divisive tactics that are rumored to be in store by Mayor Funky once again ignores the urban core and the stronghold that local Democrats and minority special interests have in Kansas City Proper. These topics might comprise some of the conversation that took place over lunch, or maybe Kansas City's Republican Machiavelli was just trying to ignore Gloria taking off her shoes and airing her big feet.

ReplyDeleteWell, I see the story is finally out. I heard this little factoid late last night from a source that actually saw them at the northland restaurant. For Funk to still try to habg on to the fantasy that he is not a "politician" is getting very difficult to swallow.

This is not the first time Roe and Funk have collaborated. During the Mayoral campaign, the Home Builders Association and Nutter donated more than $70K in-kind to run the "Back to Basics" commercials...the ones with the potholes and metal plates that Funk was going to get rid of right away. That was Roe. A lot of people believe that he was behind a number of anonymous mailings as well.
ReplyDeleteI wonder who paid for the meal... it seems that Mayor Sink So Low and the Squid need to be brown bagging it so that they can save up for the Bates lawsuit lawyer bills.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Jeff Roe doesn't work for free. If they really sink low enough (and no reason to doubt they wouldn't) to hire him, where would the money come for his time and media buys?

No big deal it was a talk on "regional" light rail into Clay and Platte using Roe's connection with Graves.

If I had the opportunity to talk to the Mayor I would ask, Did you talk to both parties involved? Did you only talk to your wife? A good manager and a good Mayor would do both. How can you say in good faith that something never took place if you only know one side? The truth will come out. I think the Mayor is afraid of the real truth.
ReplyDeleteThe above blogger was correct, Roe was responsbile for most if not all of the negative adds in the Mayor's campaign as a way to help Funk. Funk is and was a real slime to hook up with this guy, but he is selling his soul to both get elected and to get light rail support in the northland.
