The Legacy of Kelsey Smith One Year Later: Kansas City Media Still Mostly Concerned with Attractive, Affluent, White Women!!!

I guess it has been one year since Kelsey Smith was kidnapped and brutally murdered.

From all the of the endless reporting of the incident, I gather she was a great person and in her death she managed to unite the entire community of JoCo who generally couldn't care less about any homicides, murders or massacres of brown people . . . Additionally, and I think this is where credit should given, the tragic death of Kelsey Smith did more to point out the obvious disparity in media coverage of violent crime than any study, chart, graph or white paper could have accomplished.

Long story short: The Smith Tragedy pointed out that when minorities go missing or are killed the TV cameras just aren't coming . . . It's a pretty much indisputable fact of life in this town with only one exception that points out the rule. The media doesn't care about missing or dead minorities and for the most part this is an attitude that wasn't created by news coverage but rather reflects the not-so-subtle bigotry that makes the Kansas City area one of the most segregated cities in the nation.

Ooooo, and speaking of finding good looking white women . . . Here's a fantastic photo gallery of Aussie actress/model Nicky Whelan. Unlike people combing through the woods on those dreary missing persons searches, you'll be glad you found her!!!

  2. Beautiful white womens are a diminishing resource. They are to be protected. We're overstocked on ugly, fat brown people.
