  1. Stupid post Tony - HOK is most definitely not a failure, having designed stadiums for over half of major league baseball. Its not their fault all the teams want to drive more revenue - you think it was HOK's idea to have a Build-a-Bear in four of them?

  2. Have to agree with Kyle. HOK doesn't have a whole lot of say, if any, in terms of what stores/restaurants are going to be in the stadium. Let's say HOK submits a stadium plan that has 120 luxury boxes and room for two restaurants and five stores. The team's owner comes back and says 150 suites, four restaurants and six stores. It's not like HOK can tell the owner to go stick it and take their plans to someone else. There are only so many major league baseball stadiums to build.

It's all about the business - luxury boxes, suite revenue, advertising, merchandise sales. That's where teams make the bulk of their money (which they don't have to share with the other teams). The man says jump. If HOK doesn't say, "How high?", the man will get someone else.

  4. It's not Tony saying this stuff you dumb-asses, it is Sports Illustrated, the nation's leading sports mag: "HOK ballparks have the look and feel of a mall food court."
Now go back to your drawings and design some more Major League food courts...
