I honestly can't tell if The Pitch is kidding around about how important Jason Whitlock is to Kansas City sports coverage. They almost had me convinced . . . Maybe he does deserve 350k for having drinking buddies on Kansas City sports teams and writing disparaging comments about hip-hop at every turn? I always thought he was compensated to heavily because corporate interests pay well for offering the sellout viewpoint whenever the subject of race is considered.
But I do know they came by their opinion because of FREE info available on the Internets via Bottomline Communications.
Personally, I'm not convinced that Whitlock deserves that much money to offer insipid opinions with very little original reporting, insight or challenges to Kansas City's constant mediocrity when it comes to local sports . . . If all he can offer is his contrarian view as a Black dude, the same content is freely available on blogs.
