Really, I was onto this one a long time ago . . . Still, it's nice to see others more outlets for minority focused content considering that hipster offering are in abundance. The latest publication dedicated to Minorities based in KC: Rise Up. It's a nice title, even if it sounds like a porno mag. Here are more details:
The weekly magazine, based in Kansas City, will be featured as an insert in 12 publications nationally with a total circulation of 4.3 million, Erin Gregory, account coordinator for RiseUp, said Thursday . . . Janice Ellis, a former Kansas City mayoral candidate, writer and businesswoman, began the magazine to start conversation on a topic she said usually is approached timidly. It sounds like a good idea . . . And if print media wasn't quickly becoming a thing of the past . . . I'd say the mag had a future.
"I started RiseUp because I wanted to provide a readily accessible tool to help us solve some of the problems we face as a society when it comes to race relations," Ellis said in a release.
