There was a rumor floated by The Star's business section sometime during the Winter that Kansas City was better prepared to handle the current recession than other towns. Like a great deal of information from this town's faltering paper of record . . . It turned out to be untrue. In fact, Kansas City seems to be doing worse than other metro areas according to this recent article from Texas:
Kansas City, where the unemployment rate jumped from 5 percent in April to 5.5 percent in May.Personally, I blame this all on David Cook but then again a local media leader that doesn't want to face facts is probably responsible as well.
