Local blog (KC Light Rail) got the ball moving with Google Transit in this town

The bloggers at KC Light Rail are being stupidly humble (because it doesn't help anybody) about their move to encourage the KCATA to partner, prod and plead with Google to bring one of their features to the metro area. Their latest blog entry tells a bit of the story:
We're not claiming any responsibility for this, but we did post in October asking KCATA and The JO to jump on board Google Transit, since it's free, requires very little technical work to join, and far exceeds the usability of most online trip planners (besides, who doesn't use Google Maps these days?). Kudos! Now where is The JO?
Sadly, I don't use the bus and I'm guessing that a great many of the po'folk who do don't plan their trips with the computer . . . But this kind of civic involvement is still awesome!!! It just proves that if tech savvy white people with a lot of spare time push their agenda . . . They CAN make life more convenient for themselves . . . And that's the real promise of the Internets.

3, 2, 1 . . . Until somebody sends me a nasty e-mail and makes up a story about a Guatemalan illegal immigrant woman using Google Transit to take their sick child to the hospital . . . Not that I would care either way.
