Back in 2006 Mayor Kay did a very real photo shoot with CampKC.
I thought it was a condescending move but most other people appreciated the sign of acceptance and the acknowledgment of the importance of the local Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, and Transgender community.
A recent passage from THE STAR DESCRIBING THE MOVE AS AN EMBARRASSMENT WITHOUT ATTRIBUTING ANY SOURCE FOR THE OPINION MAKES IT SEEM AS IF THE AUTHORS ARE SUGGESTING THAT THE TOLERANT GESTURE ON BEHALF OF BARNES WAS A MISTAKE!!!
Here's the brief passage penned by Dave Helling and Steve Kraske:
From what I've heard, the LBGT community is plenty pissed about the implication and there have already been calls for protests in front of The Star's building. All things considered the passage was surprisingly sloppy from two of the best KC Star reporters given that there are most likely a lot of teh ghey people in the 6th District along with many more who love them (ew).
Once again, if the the JoCo folk who write The Star are taken at their word, it seems that they consider any affiliation with the many diverse communities that make up the metro area a potential source of embarrassment.
I think a retraction is in order (at least) and in the future they should try and bend over backwards (heh) to satisfy Kansas City's ghey community.
Wrong again Tony all the fags like you are in Kansas City.
ReplyDeletehard to believe anybody would be upset by one line.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny Steve Kraske would say that because he has asked me for and has received oral love from me many times.
ReplyDeleteSorry Georgia.
