Kansas City suburbs no longer offer a viable "escape" from minorities i.e. more Blacks and Latinos in Lee's Summit!!!
I'm so sorry. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to flee the city, commute thousands of miles throughout the year, live in a cultural wasteland all to avoid Blacks and Latinos . . . And then discover they're headed out your way now more than ever!!!
KC Currents reports that Lee's Summit is undergoing a unique renaissance of their own which is bringing more people of color out that way chasing the American Dream (and possibly white women - Which is always the goal of this Latino):
Now, new residents say they're drawn to Lee's Summit by its quiet, friendly, manicured neighborhoods. The town's population has grown in recent years to 90,000, and many of those new residents are African American and Latino. In last week's municipal election, Lee's Summit reached a landmark by electing its first African American city council member. KCUR's Susan Wilson spoke to Allan Gray, who's formerly the President of Kansas City's Friends of Alvin Ailey, about what it was like to move to Lee's Summit 20 years ago, which was long before many African Americans lived there.I'm curious to see how long this kind of enthusiastic diversity lasts and if Lee's Summit can avoid becoming another Raytown - A place that was once thought of a prosperous suburban community until white people moved away en masse from minorities so desperately wanting to live near them.
It's all kind of silly and gives me an added respect for people who stay put and do their best in their own crappy neighborhood. I can assure my readers that TKC only ventures to the suburbs for business i.e. white broads.
Sadly, this game of suburban cat and mouse has gone on for some time in Missouri suburbs surrounding Kansas City and the only people who manage to consistently profit are real estate developers and a few assorted professionals who know that there is no such thing as a diverse neighborhood, only a community undergoing a transition.
the minorities are trying to get away from the other minorities.
ReplyDeletewhat paintman? that was a confusing at best.
ReplyDeleteDr. Gray is a great guy! With 3 high schools and a 4th in the works, the days of good ole' boy racism are likely behind us.
Paintman has it right on
ReplyDeleteThey've already started moving to Raymore. I'm a black dude that used to live on the border on Raymore/LS by the new high school.
ReplyDeleteThe first all black lunch table at North was a civic crisis 3 years ago. The administrators called us "the challenging new demographic"
Lee's Summit is a weird place, its half Johnson Country and half Harrisonville. And even those two groups of white people (suburbanite yuppies and hicks) have beef with each other.
Paintman = bullseye
ReplyDeletestop humiliating the latino community by calling yourself a latino ... you're as white as anyone in JoCo and a total poser ... latino my ass
ReplyDeleteI would rather live next door to a person of any color instead of the white trash d-bag who moved next door to me. The Blacks in our neighborhood tell me they are "my people" and I should take care of the problems they create. They are not my people, they are trash pure and simple and that comes in all colors.
ReplyDeleteI doubt they can read much less read this but get rid of all the plastic yard art and trash in your yard and stop cussing in the middle of the street at your foster kids. Yeah, that's how they earn a living. Six foster kids they mistreat.
