¡Hola Kansas City! Learn a little Spanish and listen to School Board Candidates!!!

I don't know if I've mentioned this before but when I'm not eating snack cakes in my mom's basement, kicking ass on Xbox live or writing this blog for you d-bags - I'm an assistant on a local radio program.

Rita Valenciano (my mom ♥) is the host of ¡Hola Kansas City! - A community service program broadcast on La Playa, radio 1480 AM at 2-3 p.m. every Wednesday.

It's a bilingual show featuring guests talking about current affairs and their impact on the Latino Community.

If all goes right, TODAY AT 2 P.M. THE SHOW WILL FEATURE A BI-LINGUAL DISCUSSION WITH KANSAS CITY SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES AIRICK LEONARD WEST AND DOLORES ARZOLA!!!

The mainstream media is mostly ignoring the upcoming School Board elections as of late but I've noticed that local bloggers and the Internets have taken quite an interest. Therefore, if any of you folks out there have questions for the candidates . . . FEEL FREE TO LEAVE THEM IN THE COMMENTS and I'll share them - I'm the dude who writes the questions so there's a pretty good chance your comments will find a way to the candidates if they aren't completely lame - A distinct possibility.

  1. I've read that Airick Leaonard West never graduated from college. I'm wondering if this is true and if so, how he can champion education for our children. Thank you.

  2. Ask them why anybody should bother voting for them.

  3. Ask you mom if she has broke out in a rash... I did and it hurts like hell! I still have nightmares about doing your mom!

  4. D, think you ARE the rash.

  6. Rashes aside, I'm curious to know if there is any resentment in the Hispanic community for the way some of the leadership in the black community forced the issue with Amato's resignation.

  7. Why wasn't Benson invited?

  8. Elections? The KCMO school district needs a bulldozer, not an election.

Time to rebuild, not to reinforce. Although I guess the voters have spoken, in a way. They have had kids and promptly moved out of the district.

  9. Can Tony even speak Spanish?

  10. Schools has always been a down fall in Kansas City. Our population is leaving due to the fact schools are dumb founded. Why would it make any difference if either one of them came on the school board noting they THINK they may make a difference? This gives you a good look at how the minorities work under stress. THEY ARE LOSING.......

  11. Wow. All these questions are really worthless.

Your readers obviously don't know shit Tony.

  12. Don't know why the school system is broke but it is.

I say call in someone to make mass reforms. That should begin with the administration, from top to bottom.

Stop protecting the unqualified and incompetent.

  13. What are their positions on the public charter schools in Kansas City?

The KCMO District has spent a lot of legal fees to fight the charter schools in court. They have sued the state saying that funding going to charter schools, should instead pay bonds on the old desegregation case.

If elected would either person be as litigious as the current board is toward charter schools.

  14. What do the candidate think of breaking up the school district into a few smaller districts?

    ReplyDelete
  15. How would the candidates reach out to the white community and try to get white parents to send their kids to public schools rather than private schools.

    ReplyDelete
  16. A few good questions. Mostly bullshit. It doesn't matter. In about a decade there won't even be a school district.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jerko I can only hope that you are correct. Benson and others have made it an impossibility in this city.

    It serves no one.

    ReplyDelete
  18. How about relocating the headquarters so it's not geographically isolated from the rest of the school district?

You know, put it in the center of the district instead of at the farthest northwest corner of the district, far from any schools or even homes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I here Jerko likes little boys and playing with his mom's tits!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tony this white boy took the time to learn Spanish as well as a couple of other languages. I will be listening to the program.

  21. Arrick who is like who is Mark Forsythe?

  22. so, i took a look in at la fonda during the fundraiser and all i saw were the same bullshitters who are always out front "speaking for the hispanic community" and not doing anything to get out the vote or increase citizen awareness of government and their role in it...when was the last time lunatic, drunkass paul rojas or fat-ass lali garcia do anything for the westside? sure they help cris medina get his fed, state, and county grant money so he can keep poor hispanics dumb and blind...but let's face it garcia, rojas, medina, valenciano have only themselves in mind...they want everyone else to kiss their rings and bow to them because maybe they did something once...the truth is THE WESTSIDE HAS SO FEW ACTIVE VOTERS THAT NO ONE IN ELECTIVE GOVERNMENT GIVES A SHIT ABOUT...they throw the spics grant money, garcia and medina and their lot take credit for it, making sure the poor love them...these people in la raza and other organizations that allegedly "look after" hispanics have taken on the responsibility of keeping everyone complacent instead of leading A LITTLE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC REVOLUTION...they make a stink when they can stand in front of the cameras and leave "their" people to fight it out everyday against the nativistjingoprickmotherfuckers like tony and his reactionary friends

so what if west didn't graduate college, since when did college prove anyone was smart? (famous college grad dumbasses: w, rumsfeld, ashcroft, slobodan milosovich, leonard marx, henry williams, john wayne gacy, carol coe, joseph mccarthy, beth gottstein...you get where i'm going with this)...frankly, i like the guy...good looking, great eyes, sincere smile...plus some ideas for unifying the district and getting us all out of the racist bullshit interest group crap all of us are mired in...want good school? get with blacks in the district, get with whitey, get with immigrants and find out what the hell matters...i'm sick of these bullshit artists who think starting a no-account, low-literacy-at graduation, dropout laden charter school (like alta vista) is the solution to our problems...

  23. How is peachygirlie going to act like she cares about the Westside and the Latino community and then follow it up by calling them "spics" and frequently using the word "their" or "them" to separate herself? Typical.

    ReplyDelete
  24. kinda dumb, aren't ya, anon? in my rant, "they" and "their," while being third-person, impersonal pronouns, refer to specific fat-mouth "leaders" and not to a faceless group or race...let me point to the pronoun's antecedents for you so you don't have to show again just how short-sighted, reactionary, and bullshit your viewpoint is: rojas, garcia, medina, and valenciano...

being a lifelong westsider (guadalupe and ward) and latina i'm sick of these "leaders" and "their" compadres speaking for all us "hispanics"..."they" don't...i've had it with "them" lining "their" pockets and cushioning "their" egos at the expense of westsiders in general--which, i'll point out include sizable black, white, and undocumented populations...i hope you and tony can get off the gci and la raza bandwagon and drop the whole "us" and "them" way of looking at the world...the westside community is complicated, wonderful, and human...the most beautiful thing i know...
