Kansas City's rap failure Mac Lethal bites Beastie Boys material from 1986

If you like the douche . . . I recently wiped my ass with stumbled upon yet another far too complimentary review and free download of Mac Lethal's work from yet another hipster publication.

Here are the highlights:

  • He likes beer.

  • He doesn't live Boulevard Beer . . . Oh no!!!

  • Mac Leathal also makes off with Eminem's musical style in detailing tense family relations . . . I can only hope the frustration stems from sexual abuse.

  • He's not a fan of the Chiefs . . . I agree but my insights regarding the team are far more substantial since they constantly note that Jackson County is paying for JoCo's entertainment.

  • Oh yeah, he's white.

Anyhoo, the article is filled with the same sentiment that will keep Kansas city's over-hyped rapper mired in mediocrity if this is the kind of audience that takes his (c)rap to heart.

The beer drinking, hard partying routine is the same thing the Beastie Boys were doing in 1986 on Licensed to Ill . . . And the troubled family routine is right from all of Eminem's better work. Essentially, this is what's wrong with Mac Lethal's oeuvre. We've seen it before only with better drum tracks and more authenticity.

I've noted this fact before and even garnered the attention from the short, balding rapper on this blog. Unfortunately, the guy would rather lead a small cadre of dopey hipster fans who are satisfied with mediocre music rather than work on his act and try coming up with something original that doesn't depend on white privilege, tired clichés, the fact that he has minority friends (Oooooooo) or the d-bags working at alternative mags who also find fruits like Kanye West inspiring.

    2. The Beastie Boys and anything else from the early 90s being your only frame of reference is pretty sad.

    7. The only Mac Lethal in Kansas City is the Big Mac on Broadway. I've been droppin deuces all damn day. The smell reminds me of this dudes recordings. Maybe that's where he got the name.

    17. Wow this was some "Boo-who I didn't like something" boring poorly written drivel from an uneducated child man... Nice raciest undertones... His comments were completely outdated, and without merit... Typical I can write a negative garbage review, my opinion is right watch me not explain myself...
