Fewer people are giving money to City Union Mission this year.
In fact, the Kansas City charity is running far behind in their fundraising goals.
Usually, the cold weather inspires people to give out of a sense of gratitude . . . However, during the last year Kansas City politicos and business people have attempted to cast their problems onto the less fortunate in this town. Let's not forget that local homeless folks were labeled "visual blight" last year and then there is the ongoing effort to kick the poor, dirty scumbags out of the loop.
All things considered, Kansas City could care less about the homeless and it's starting to show. But I would advise against ignoring this resilient section of Kansas City's populace. Somehow these frisky, crazy folks manage to survive the cold months and given the current economic climate they might prosper in the P&L District when a soup line replaces all of the luxury destinations. Also, the Sprint Center would make a nice shelter for this town's homeless since we're no closer to getting an anchor tenant.
Tony, I'm a couple of paychecks away from poverty myself, but if I ever can, I want to try to do something to help homeless people. They are us. They just can't function in this jacked-up, dog-eat-dog, capital worshipping place - and it wouldn't take much for a lot of us to be in their shoes.
ReplyDeleteI hate the homeless but not as much as I hate mexicans.

ReplyDeleteKansas City should be helpful to the homeless, but not to the extent to encourages the behavior that most of the seen "beggars" fall into i.e. drugs & alcohol. Furtherances of their grift breeds the undesirable consequences. Give to City Union Mission or Salvation Army, United Way but NOT THE Beggar
ReplyDeleteIf we really think about this by not giving money.
ReplyDeleteThe Homeless will move to another state.
Stop handing out money to the tards
