Beating up on Mexicans is bad for business

Recently, news in Kansas City has revealed that using immigration as a wedge issue ruins careers.

It makes sense.

People have bigger problems than worrying about who is washing their dishes.

Here's a quick list of things that are way more important than hassling Mexicans:

The Economy

The War in Iraq

Health Care

Education

The Environment

While I disagree with most people about the solutions to these problems - My solution to everything is more hot, half-naked white women . . .



Still, the topics cited above obviously resonate with the public far more than the war against Mexican heritage.

Look at the facts:

Fred Thompson wasn't too fond of Latinos and he garnered little support and a campaign that just couldn't get off the groud.

Matt Blunt made a last ditch effort to blame all of his failures on immigrants but that still couldn't save his career. He was forced to call it quits because it's hard to blame 4 years of Republican failure on less than 3 percent of the population.

Finally, Frances Semler blamed Latinos and everyone but her self for FOR HER OWN RESIGNATION!!! Let's get this straight, her argument is that it's someone else's fault that SHE QUIT? Everyone else is being really nice to the old lady so I don't feel obligated to treat a grown woman like a child . . . But the lady's letter was clearly a missive from a crazy person and represents the typical victim-mentality of anti-immigrant, anti-Latino forces.

The point here is that racially divisive tactics on the subject of immigration obviously aren't helping win any votes or further political careers.

In fact, it's clear that exploiting the topic of immigration for political gain is a desperate strategy that is the precursor to a press release from a very frustrated politico informing the public that they're quitting.

In the media the topic plays well but anti-immigrant, anti-Latino rhetoric just doesn't move the crowd . . . Sure, it's a popular topic among d-bag bloggers and media folks craving attention but obviously IMMIGRATION IS NOT THE HOT BUTTON ISSUE OF 2008. In fact, it's mostly a topic of folks with a lot of "issues" who would make life harder on immigrants rather than dealing with their own problems.
