Bibleman battles Father-in-law!!!

Most celebrity tell-all books give me the creeps . . . Christian themed confessional stories are no exception .

Still, the story of Willie Aames is somewhat inspirational given that it doesn't end with him robbing a 7-11 or dying of a drug overdose. In fact Aames became a born-again Christian, moved to the Kansas City area and now produces the "Bibleman" video series along with some appearances in VH1's Celebrity Fit Club. Heaven forbid, this is probably the best time in all of media history to be a former celebrity.

Of special interest is a recent "Author Review" featured in Camp KC which provides even more background on the stories behind Aames tell-all tale entitled "Grace is Enough."

While the book has been getting good reviews, Camp KC's feature provides a perspective into the early childhood of Aames' wife Maylo McCaslin in a shockingly honest account by her father Taylor Pero who also lives in KC.
But getting back to Maylo’s story, if you’re beginning to form a mental picture of child abuse by now, you ain’t read nothing yet. Maylo lays it all out in grisly detail in her portion of Grace Is Enough, written with her TV heartthrob husband of 20 years, actor Willie Aames, who grew up on television playing Tommy Bradford, on Eight Is Enough. He’s the blond, curly haired charmer with the deep, husky voice . . . I may be coming across as a bragging father, but Grace Is Enough is one of the most honest and courageous books ever written exposing the underbelly of that vast imaginary and real industry called show business.
For the most part, the review was complimentary but it still made me a bit uncomfortable . . . I never thought I would know so much about everyone associated with "Eight is Enough" nor did I ever want to . . . Still, it's a nice story and yet another story which reveals that nearly every path to fame ends back here in Kansas City, competing with relatives for the media spotlight and/or the last chicken wing.

  2. You must not have watched him on Fit Club. He was a raging alcoholic and took off halfway through the show. One of the hosts went to his home to check on him and it looked like he was going to kill the guy right there on camera (he looked drunk/coked up). This guy is smart - and moved to KC instead of Hollyweird so he can mind his own business and not be followed by photog's looking for those "child star goes bad" shots.
