Union Station might be in the black, even more profit could be on the way from stolen Chinese dead bodies
Here's a nice sentiment that isn't true from The Star: Union Station will end the year in the black for the first time since its restoration in 1999. The article doesn't mention that Union Station still has a backlog of debts totaling $1.7 million. Still, the "Bodies Revealed" exhibit might help but probably won't permanently solve the problems of the money losing operation and will most likely curse the place given that profiting a few coins from the display of dead people who didn't give their consent isn't good karma.
kudos to Union Station, now if only more people would go there
ReplyDeleteThis is a paragraph from an article about Body World.
ReplyDelete"Body Worlds is controversial for a number of reasons. First, the exhibit was initially met with concern over whether or not the people whose bodies were displayed had given their consent. Von Hagens claimed that all specimens were voluntarily donated, and investigation into the matter confirmed his claim. Some critics were not satisfied, however, especially regarding the display of fetal specimens, who could not have consented. However, in such cases, the parents' consent was obtained.
Other plastination exhibits not affiliated with von Hagens or Body Worlds have also come under criticism for using bodies without the informed consent of the donors. The models in some exhibits, prepared in China, are controversially said to use the remains of executed criminals."
I bet this exhibit will have Union Station ending in the black without a doubt. Having seen this exhibit in St. Paul a few years ago, it was so amazing that I will certainly be going again and telling every one I know to go too.
I've heard several positive reviews and much interest in seeing this exhibit.
