Suburbanites will never stop being afraid (of minorities) in Kansas City

Yael Abouhalkah lets on with his typical cheerleading today but sadly leaves out the one reason why suburbanites don't want anything to do with KCMO: minorities. It's the same problem with the MSM . . . They use code words like "urban" or "crime" when they really mean minorities.

The premise of his column was equally misinformed. He talks about perceptions of corruption and uses Kathryn Shields as an example as to why a regional light rail plan has yet to get off the ground but it's common knowledge that the JoCo folks don't want KC having easy access (heh) to their community through mass transit because that would mean they would have to step up their rampant racial profiling efforts when the reciprocal traffic headed their way.

Abouhalkah's silly thinking completely neglects the racial covenants which founded the greater part of JoCo . . . Read some of the background info on King of Kings county if you don't believe me. In the long run it's just childish to expect so many years of history to evaporate because KC has went into hock in order to attract the monied crowd across the State Line. There are reasons for the dividing lines in the KC Metro area and they represent a very cold and cruel reality. Coincidentally, you may not believe this but all of these factors are why I respect white people who have stayed in KC proper just a little bit more than their JoCo counterparts. Really, in light of KC's horrible schools, crime and streets the white people who have stuck with this town instead of scurrying toward the Golden Ghetto deserve to be commended if not for their stubbornness then at least for their awesome mullets.

And as far as the "distrust" of KC when JoCo folks are concerned . . . I'm pretty sure it goes both ways as so many folks around here probably resent them as they enjoy their new stadiums paid for by the suckers in Jackson County or as they buy scalped tickets in order to watch Elton John and then speed back home . . . And I'm sure that many KC folks appreciate the JoCo cash but also realize that our neighbors are a parasitic community that doesn't have decency to kick in for the expensive attractions KC has gambled on . . . Really, when you think about it practically and add up sales taxes . . . Illegal immigrants have most likely committed more to this town than folks from JoCo . . . Just a thought.

  1. Tony, what you're forgetting is that the illegal immigrants get their income from their house cleaning, yard mowing, and roof shingling jobs in JoCo.

So it truly is a symbiotic parasitic relationship.

  2. You have it right on the mark Tony. The suburbs grew, and continue to grow, out of bigotry.

Oh I know they just want Good (Lilly White) Schools and Safe (Lilly White) neighborhoods. So we should take them at their word and ignore the (White) elephant in the salon when we discuss such matters in polite company.

Pay no attention to the fact that there is a white guy being held for molesting and murdering a white girl who was kidnapped in from a Target store in the suburbs. (And that a big bigot prosecuting attorney will try to use the crime to save his failed political career.)

With that crime in mind, and as a white guy, I believe I can say the following. I have to admit all those white people in the suburbs make me uneasy. Sure not all of them are kidnappers, rapists and murders but you really cannot tell which ones are by looking at them. A lot of them will smile at you and make nice, but you really do not know what they are thinking - especially around the women. As a matter of fact they all look a like to me. Since you cannot tell the good ones from the trouble makers I prefer to avoid the white concentrations in the suburbs and I do not like to think of my wife shopping there alone. I don't think that makes me a bigot, I am just a careful man who wants a peaceful life.

In my layman's opinion, Abouhalkah writing shows the clear signs of brain damage brought on by decades of Kool-Aid drinking. Then again, Abouhalkah is just playing the odds and kissing the low hanging asses.

Telling the suburbs not to be bigoted is a little like telling a squirrel to be a bird. Except when it comes to feeding time, the response rate is extremely low.

  3. Tony:
I'm one of those white guys that bought a house in the "hood" ten years ago, because I wanted to live in a real neighborhood in a beautiful old house and not some pre-fab, cheaply-built piece of shit that looked like all the other pieces of shit in the same Johnson County "development." I actually worked in JoCo then and my co-workers were appalled and nervous for me because I lived "too close to Troost." That's the mentality on the other side of State Line. Troost is a dirty word and the tenements of the future (those cheap-ass, shitty, cookie-cutter "homes" in Overland Park with ratty-looking lawns, plywood construction and not a garden in sight) are "desirable." It's such a demented outlook, that I'm glad those crazy muthafuckas are living in Kansas.

  4. Isn't it true that almost all the Star staff writers (Kraske, Yael, "Trust Fund" Christopher, Jr., etc.) all live in beautiful, safe and white Johnson County?

  6. Just turn down all that JoCo money then. All you have to do is look at the school district test scores, the nightly news, and from someone who lives in SE KCMO, this town cannot take care of itself. I have yet to see a bill to that would put more cops on the street or improve the schools that KCMO has not shot down. Every time someone mentions progress in this town, people bury their heads in the sand and wait for it to blow over. Those that are bitching the loudest are usually part of the problem. Offer a fucking solution. Like going outside and getting to know who your neighbors are, so we can hold the knuckle draggers that run around accountable for actions they commit (no matter the race). Parents need to be parents, and good neighbors. That will fix a huge part of the KCMO issue, and MAYBE just MAYBE draw some of those people back to the core of this city. Until, we are just pissing up a rope.

  7. What Tony calls fear of blacks most people call a self-preservation instinct. Most whites fear KC's blacks because they commit a majority of the violent crimes in this city. It's called playing the percentages.

  8. "Golden Ghetto", I love it...

Believe it or not, it doesnt matter if you go west of Troost or Stateline, you will not find paradise. As an employee of the P.D. I can assure you, crime happens EVERYWHERE.

How soon we all forget, schools like Columbine High school, NOT Westport High school, taught us schools across the country are not safe. No matter what the race. Things are happening all over this city, by all and to all races. I wish people would stop thinking they're better than the rest just because they're one paycheck ahead.
