Over the weekend: Bill Cosby didn't get much help in KC

I hate the term "blame the victim" because it automatically assumes that somebody is, in fact, a victim and that's not always the best thing as far as the political discourse is concerned . . . In the long run, people don't like victims because they make everyone feel vulnerable . . . Just watch The Accused without laughing at the "action" scene and you'll know what I'm trying to communicate.

Anyway, despite the nice write-up from the Star . . . Bill Cosby's KC visit was a bit of a disappointment. Alonzo Washington reports on the event:
The event only pulled a few hundred men. I saw the news footage. The same concerned Black Men that are always at stuff like this were there. The march was not that large either. A few 100 people to come to a event in KC is good. However, Bill & Tom were here & there should have been more people there. There weren't many young people their either. I think Eric Wesson is trying to make a difference but . . .
And, as always I think it's important to point out Cosby's problems as he attempts to solve the concerns of everyone else . . . Along with the varied response that he has received from other creative people.

By the way, here's a great older article about Cosby's alleged hypocrisy, I like the conclusion:
The horde of conservative commentators stumbled over themselves to hail Cosby as the ultimate truth-giver and laud him for having the courage to air dirty racial laundry.

America's favorite dad got some things right and some things terribly wrong in his bash of black America. And he may be right that his parade of sexual accusers is out to gouge a star. But if he's wrong, he'll have more than an image problem.
Still, I don't know if I can blame people for skipping out on a lecture over the weekend. The weather was really nice.

  1. Now you have really gone to far, you're making Alonzo Washington (your boy) a reporter? Everyone knows that this media hound is upset because he wasn't on the platform. This event was well received and packed so, maybe if you to stopped playing batman and robin, you could really get some real news.

  2. Once again, throwing stones at someone trying to do something. If a tree fell on someone typing away on the internet would anyone hear it?
