Nothing is sacred, also KC crooks are stupid

You've probably already heard about the recent damage done to the Firefighters Fountain of KC as local crooks took metal spray nozzles and reportedly attempted to sell them for scrap.
Nine metal nozzles were cut from the fountain near West 31st and Broadway streets over the weekend. The nozzles may be about $3 on the street, but it costs about $200 to replace one on the fountain.
And I know it might be unfair to expect any moron who is out there selling stolen scrap metal to understand the history of this town but I simply assumed that the legacy of the Fire Fighters Fountain was common knowledge. Therefore stealing a few bucks worth of scrap metal probably wouldn't be worth pissing off an entire contingent of local people who would scream to the rafters regarding the sacrilege. Simple logic would lead a crook to conclude that the tiny score from the heist wouldn't be worth the effort, right? But once again, I would be wrong to think that crooks/meth addicts/whoever would follow simple logic.

A brief aside: Summer isn't just for random shootings, it's for stealing scrap metal in Kansas City!! I hate love this town.

  1. This must be a popular activity for the summer, since a few weeks ago someone stole one of those metal medallions OUT OF THE SIDEWALK on Independence Ave, apparently to sell it for scrap metal. Nice.

  2. It's not the people stealing them that is the problem. You'll never stop that. It's the degenerate motherfuckers who are buying obviously stolen metal. The meth heads I can understand. The crack heads too. They're like roaches.

But the buyers are the real problem that there is so much of a market.

  3. the place is right on main. They strip the high rises and construction areas and head right there. All KCMO needs to do is set up a sting.
