This is my 9,000th post and I'm not going to lie to you . . . Not every one of them has been a gem. However, having worked more than 10 years (off and on) as a community journalist I will let you know that I've gained more noteriety for the stupid comments I type on this blog than I ever had covering local news stories. And sadly, people have taken more notice, been more offended and had a greater reaction to the posts on this blog than any of the neighborhood newspapers for which I've written. I'm not sure exactly what that says but it doesn't bode well for the print media.
I have a few ideas for what might happen when/if this blog hits 10k posts but I've found that it's best not to reveal my plans lest I look silly if I get hit by a truck some time in the near future. Still, some changes might or might not happen . . . The great thing about the Citizen Media is that I could turn this thing into a blog about sewing in Kansas City if I wanted and I wouldn't have to answer to anyone - the only person I'm really required to please is myself . . . Kind of like sex.
So, as always I want to thank you for reading my jokes, opinions, stories, rumors, observations and analysis of life in Kansas City.
Through this blog I've met some pretty great people, I've ruffled a lot of feathers, I've made it clear that this is a great country in which people will take notice of even the stupidest opinion if it's entertaining enough and repeated quite a bit. There's no end to the list of how this blog has made my life better . . . Sadly, I still haven't been able to get paid for it. SOOOOOOO, I'm hoping TKC will carry on because it represents my love/hate relationship with Kansas City and because I have an emotional maturity level of an 8th grader - I can't think of a better way to show your love for something than to make jokes at its expense and constantly reduce every serious debate to name calling and other crude remarks.
Rock on.
9000 post and all you can give us is a pic of that skank Hilton? C'mon!
ReplyDeleteGood job Tony. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI did my 901st recently - there's not enough Red Bull in town to help me catch up.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to look back on an occasion like this and focus on your funniest, most satirical, or simply the best posts and feel some pride. But that's not what makes this site. You should feel most pride for those posts you pulled out of nowhere when the text box taunted you with its nothingness, and dared you to come up with something worth typing into it.
Congrats on 9000 posts.
congrads Tony. Your sloppy journalism actually makes KC politics interesting.
ReplyDeleteMazal Tov Tony! May you piss off the right people, pander to the ignorant and sell hope to the foolish.
ReplyDeleteI do look forward to seeing 10,000.
oh, because I forgot to mention it... thank you for putting KC blogging on the map.
ReplyDelete9k posts of other people's work plus a bunch of pictures ganked off Google images...yeah, congratufuckinglations.
ReplyDelete9k posts. 9 readers.
Awesome! Congratulations and keep it up (take that any way you want - LOL)
ReplyDeleteLove ya!
