The cleverly titled Missouri Civil Rights Initiative is "designed to eliminate state-sponsored discrimination through race preferences and move us closer to the color-blind promise of the 1964 Civil Rights Act" by making sure the white people can discriminate legally . . . However, Fired Up Missouri reports that Michigan passed the very same initiative that is now being proposed in the Show-Me state and the "only large organization" to support the Michigan initiative just happened to be the Ku Klux Klan. Also, here's a great take on the subject from the Blue Blog.

Why does the name Semler come to mind? I thought she was over, done, KAPUT. Oh, you meant that KC political "leaders" were done trying to run the bigot out of her appointment to the parks board. Pity, because if we roll over and pass the lube to bigots, the result is predictable.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Gloria (She Who Must Be Obeyed) might just schedule the Big Vulcan Consort at a campaign rally for the measure, because, as she might tell a magazine reporter in the future "We want all our little brown friends to know we believe in civil rights. Really! We do. I am from New York ya know."
Let's write some letters to the papers to make the community aware that this is racist legislation. It's time to call out those that pander to the KKK, Minutemen, NSM88 and any other racist organization.
ReplyDeleteIt gets even more interesting. Tim Asher lists his creditials as former Director of Admissions at North Central College in Naperville, IL. He was an admissions counselor and was told his contract would not be renewed due to his rantings there. He has solicited John Uhlmann of Mission Hills , KS to be a front person for this group. Uhlmann has ties to the Jack A. scandal with allegations of illegal contributions. And John partnered with Richard Nadler in a venture called Access Communications Group. ACG produced some ads in the past that were tageted at black and hispanics in KC designed to confuse and mislead them about Social Security. Uhlmann ran for Congress in the mid 80's unsuccessfully, so he has since used his wealth to buy his way into the inner circle.
ReplyDeleteWow 3:15pm..If anyone now denies that the GOP is full of rich corrupt, racist and prejudice assholes than they are either 1) a rich, corrupt, racist, prejudice asshole as well or 2) the dumbest person walking this planet. Or maybe even both.
ReplyDeleteWhat's ironic here is that those who verbally savage supporters as "corrupt, racist, prejudice asshole(s)" and suggest that they support the Klan are anonymous, very much like the KKK was wearing its sheets.
ReplyDeleteSecond, the MoCRI does not by making sure the white people can discriminate legally" as you assert. Can you explain how a policy that eliminates "discrimination and preferences" for ANYONE ensures that whites can discriminate. Discrimination will be illegal before and after the initiative.
Honest people on both sides can disagree on this issue - but some of your side would prefer to say that all of our side is dishonestly motivated. Having no other intellectual argument other than "prejudice assholes" - you then throw around the label racist - watering down the value of the word for when it is really needed (like for the Klan).
As to the KKK, they are hardly a "large organization," and its a vast lie to suggest they were the "only" organization to support to MCRI in Michigan. I have no doubt that the handful of people calling themselves Klan supported MCRI for crass reasons - but the fact that a handful of communists support preferential affirmative action (because it is a fundamental assault on American values of individual equality) shouldn't, by itself, mean we should reject your argument (there are plenty of intellectual reasons to reject preferences - why not debate them honestly).
I does not allow what is known as reverse racism either. Now if a person of color is in a position to make a decision, he/she cannot hide behind some bad judgments for saying, I can't be racist! I'm Black/Hispanic/Asian! A true merit based system is the way to be. Maybe this will motivate those who wish to milk the system to actually perform, get an education, and actually have to earn the promotion they want.
