A post about the Smartport without scary talk of a one world government or Mexicans making life in the near future unbearable

At some point, nearly every objection I've seen against the Smartport in Kansas City relies on (mostly unfounded) fear that Mexicans are coming to date your daughter and/or the U.S. can't compete in a global economy.

Recently, it was nice to stumble upon a blogger interview with Chris Gutierrez, President of SmartPort in Kansas City that didn't conform to most of the crazy Internet interpretations of the Inland Port which claim that it's a conspiracy to place the Chinese Military in this cowtown - Also, I don't know why the Chinese would want any part of KC unless the worldwide supply of chubby white women was a lot lower than I initially suspected . . . And if you've been to Oak Park Mall lately, you know that's not true.

  1. So is this the Walmart connection to the Richards Gabuer Airport? Is this the future of Kansas City. If it has so much potential then why did our City council give Mr. Gutierrez a couple of million dollars. Is this another subsidy like TIF only no oversite? With Bonnie Sue and Chuck Eddy on there board of directors one better watch closely just who is doing what to whom.

  2. Tony, you'd be surprised at how much the Chinese are interested in Kansas City. Someone or some people in China keep posting my Kansas City photos all over Chinese Internet message boards. I get to see it all when I check my site stats.
