I covered the opening of the KCK movie theater and everybody working on the thing was pretty hopeful . . . But in the end the ticket sales just weren't there . . . The place isn't closing, but it will only be open for special engagements. A dance hall or other venue for get-togethers in KCK . . . That sounds like a better business plan.

As far as I know there is no place in KC that regularly plays Rocky Horror anymore.
ReplyDeleteThey could play that and Pink Floyd's the Wall on the weekends and I bet they'd sell more than 6 tickets.
Then again it is KCK...maybe some Robert Rodriquez movies too.
Most of the folks recently arrived to the immediate vicinity of the Granada would much rather go for an evening at "El Taconazo" or the "Oasis" clubs than to a movie & burger date. Maybe they can disassemble it and move it closer to the Raceway. In a few years, they may build a new city hall there since it is where WYCO growth is.
