KC Carjackers: One more reason not to help anybody on the road and support CCW

Not that I would ever condone killing anybody over a car but there was a great article about the tactics that local crooks are using when it comes to carjacking, a growing crime in the KC area . . .
(Carjackings) occur about 34,000 times a year across the country, according to the most recent federal statistics. Sometimes the robbers attack but don’t succeed in taking the vehicle, but 45 percent of the time they do.

About 24 percent of the time the victim is injured.
Anecdotally, I know at least 4 people who have been carjacked since Spring.

Additionally, I've always found stories about CCW protecting against school shootings or random muggings a bit silly but when it comes to carjacking the arguments start to make a little more sense. Sad but true, when at least one KC crook draws some fire back after a carjacking attempt, that will make a lot of people think twice about pulling the same stunt . . . In much the same way that most crooks know that robbing houses in the gun loving Midwest is a great way to end up catching lead.

On an even more productive note, I've always fought off carjackers even more cleverly. I drive a piece of crap that nobody in their right mind would want. If somebody stole my car, they would probably be forced to invest in a lot of oil, maintenance and heart ache during the winter months . . . Therefore I feel somewhat safe driving my truck through some of the worst KC areas in order to get the really good Chinese food - No risk, no reward but this "urban camouflage" tactic has always served me well. TKC is always ahead of the competition.

  1. I have a new car but it's a 6 speed manual that most ghetto rats probably can't drive. Of course that is of little consolation if i'm bleeding out on the side of the road.
