Crime Scene KC is the highest trafficked blog in Kansas City, James Hart who now runs the page contends that none of it would have been possible without Greg Reeves. I believe him. Hart has written a eulogy for Mr. Reeves and it's worth reading as a post which documents this thing we call local blogging.

Thanks for poisoning the jury pools of thousands of criminal trials, Greg Reeves. Thank you for opening up your comments so people can poison them even further with rampant speculation, innuendo, and outright libel.
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling everyone where the DUI checkpoints are to ensure that your suburban readership doesn't get popped driving back from the plaza and can still read you on monday.
Without your witch-hunt mentality we wouldn't have been able to ensure unfair playing fields in this town.
ALS couldn't have happened to a better person. Nice beard and aviators.
He probably fucked more criminal defendant's in this town than any crooked judge ever could.
my, the ax-grinding is awfully loud in here today.
ReplyDeleteYou know of ax-grinding, don't ya Tony?
ReplyDeleteTainting jury pools, by posting what is in the Star already?
ReplyDeleteHow about his tributes to homicide victims, advocacy against the "stop snitching" campaign, and publishing crime statistics relevant to specific neighborhoods.
Greg Reeves put out a lot of statistics but he did nothing with them to help us understand crime in the metro area. He never crunched the numbers. Instead, he promalgated stories about Paris Hilton and the sort. As a result, KCCS has become a sad joke akin to Access Hollywood. Pablum for the masses.
