Yesterday afternoon Kansas AG Paul Morrison confused everyone . . . KMBZ reports: A high-profile abortion provider has been charged with 19 misdemeanors in a surprise move by a Democratic attorney general who supports abortion rights and unseated a prominent anti-abortion Republican.
Once again, Evolution-Nextstep does a good job in noting the confusion surrounding the story and refusing to participate in "Tillermania": "We’ll be seeing more fun stories like this in the media for months to come." I can't say I'll be looking forward to it and the argument over late term abortion is much less interesting (to me) than the catfight between Paul Morrison and Phill Kline.
It's not politics, it's the law. Tiller has been daring the AG to prosecute him for 20 years so he can become a cause celebre.
ReplyDeleteIn typical Morrison fashion, he won the election demonizing Kline for following the law, then did exactly what Kline was doing but with his own investigation.
It's just kind of sad that with all the talented legal minds in the state the best we can come up for AG is a fake-cowboy alcoholic and a glorified dirt lawyer.
Morrison did not do "exactly what Kline was doing but with his own investigation." The charges facing Dr. Tiller now bear no resemblance to the charges filed by Kline. At this point it is too early to tell whether these current charges, misdomeanors, can be made to stick. Nothing terribly confusing at all.
ReplyDeleteAs for Tiller becoming a cause celebre, that was acomplished by the anti-abortion crowd.
