Prison is the solution to all of your medical problems

The charges in this lawsuit and the brutal details of the news story say everything. You don't need any commentary for me other than to remind you that there is a reason a lot of people in this town don't like talking to the police.
In a lawsuit filed Friday, a 32-year-old woman blames Kansas City police for the premature birth and death of her baby last year.

Sofia Salva was four months pregnant when police pulled over her car for a false temporary license plate and she began bleeding, according to the lawsuit.

Salva told the officers she needed medical help because she feared a miscarriage.

The officers ignored her requests, arrested her for traffic citations and outstanding city warrants, and put her in jail. She said she spent the next 10 hours pleading with jailers for medical help. They supplied her with several changes of pants but ignored her requests, she said. The next day, after nearly 12 hours in custody, Salva began passing large blood clots, the lawsuit alleged.
While I understand "back the badge" types might scoff at these allegations, they don't really seem that hard to believe and the upshot is: If any of these charges hold up in court, it would seem that a minor traffic violation can turn into a death sentence . . . Which might be the only reason I would ever support public transportation.

  1. I was ready to feel sorry for her until I read the article:

"The officers initially stopped Salva for the license plate violation and later discovered she had outstanding city warrants for mistreatment of children, trespassing and several traffic violations, including driving while suspended. The bonds for those cases totaled $4,600."

The last thing she needs is another kid. She already has 3 she can't take care of and she is obviously far to irresponsible to drive a car. Do I expect a person like that to to take good care of herself while she is pregnant... hell no. No excuse for the police though, you can't let someone just sit there and bleed.

  2. I was outraged! It does not matter that she has 3 kids.... I tried for years to get pregnant, I has some fertility issues, & A miscarriage is something I would not whish one on my worst enemy! It is a horrible, & heart wrenching experience, even though I now have a child, there is not a week that goes by that I don't think of my first baby. I hope the officers are disciplined to the highest possible consequences.
BTW the first 3 months are the most crucial in a pregnancy.. the woman office just... well, I can't say what I would really like to say about her, but she needs to get a clue! A Menstrual cycle, WHILE YOU ARE PREGNANT!!! HELLOOOOOOO!

I realize Police officers get every excuse in the book, but COME ON! They easily had proof she was bleeding, all they had to do was ask for it or have it checked... it's not like she said it once or twice, she asked several times.... while in jail they let her change pants constantly, At least they could have had it checked out....the officers Should have @ least complied... they could always arrest her if it didn't check out @ the hospital!

Nothing can replace her loss.... I Hope she wins the case!
