More Mexican labor in KC

Damn it, just when I think I had every reason I ever needed to hate the Chiefs and make fun of them at every turn . . . They do something very cool . . . By now you've already heard that Friday, the Chiefs signed offensive lineman Ramiro Pruneda. Even better, Tony Gonzalez helped lure the guy away from the (worthless) European league.

I guess the irony of the situation will be fun to note (constantly) during next Chiefs season: A great many JoCO fans will cheer for one Mexican and help to reward him with millions of dollars but when they head back to their own community they may benefit from the labor of many more (and much shorter) Mexicans in their restaurants and offices but probably have a little less affection for those folks. Life is funny that way . . . One last bit of irony: A Mexican guy defending a perimeter? I like that in much the same way that I think it's hilarious that when white folks call for more border patrol agents, they are inadvertently lobbying for more Chicanos to be employed given the fact that those folks live close to the border, they are bilingual, they are in need of thankless shitty jobs AND a great many of them hate Mexicans on a personal level far more than most white folks.

  1. I've seen this guy play in Mexico. He's really good.

There is no question that there is a major jump from college ball there to the pros here; but believe me when I say this guy will be fine.
