Failing Upward

It's hard to believe that Missouri Democrats are trying to persuade KC's own Country Club Kay Barnes to challenge Republican Rep. Sam Graves in 2008. Actually, this probably does explain why this state remains red despite deep labor ties, a myriad of Medicare problems and quite a few pissed off po'folk voters. In fact, Missouri Democrats couldn't read public sentiment any worse than to view Mayor Kay's career as a local success story.

I was thinking about possible campaign platforms and slogans and all I could come up with was the following:

Kay Barnes: The Eminent Domain Dominatrix . . . One vote to lose your inhibitions about corporate welfare and lose your home in a painful and humiliating process.

Blind, Dumb and Barnes: Ignoring your problems in much the same way she ignored KC's homicide rate over the years.

Barnes against small businesses: Because small campaign donations don't count!

Yeah, I know this state has been clamoring for empty, expensive arenas and the destruction of neighborhoods. And while local Democrats have recently proven themselves quite effective at bashing Republican wenches like Becky Nace . . . If Kay Barnes is the best they have to offer . . . Truly, it is time for both sides of the fence invest in better broads.
