KC-area economic growth is slowing

So I thought all of this redevelopment, lofts, condos and pushing around poor people was supposed to lead to this town a bigger payday then the Nigerian e-mail offer I've recently been considering. Turns out that next year, when Mayor Kay flies away on her broomstick, economic growth is scheduled to slow down to a snail's pace in Kansas City.

On the brighter side, this town has created a lot of new jobs . . . But they are mainly in the service industry and therefore are either going to be taken by Mexicans or will make you horribly bitter about your degree in Communication Studies/Computer Science/History/whatever while shining shoes or mopping. However, there is dignity to be found in all kinds of work and you should remind yourself of that when your condo dwelling overlords look down to tell you that you missed a spot.

  1. I do agree with the construct that most of the touted "new jog growth" is in the service industry and not highly paying jobs (i research this kiind of stuff).

However, I disagree with your characterization of these jobs as being taken by "Mexicans or make you horribly bitter about your degree in......"

Your commentary towar the end is cynical (I know, duh), but I do believe that the basis of your comment is actually true. One must find the dignity in every job and despite the situation one is in, you must find a way to find dignity and progress. Even if I find myself in a situation where my employer is a dumbass, I must rise aboe it and find a way to progress.

Please forgive me for the crassesss of my respones - I truly enjoy your posts, as they reveal truth. Thank you for your wonderful perspective.
