About to debrief KC lawyers

It's official, local real estate developers have much more pull than local lawyers. That's a pretty big change that most poor people won't notice but it was once common place for a prominent lawyer to be able to get away with murder in this town. Nowadays that can't even fund the gambling habit of a local judge.

The Star reports that Mayor Kay Barnes called on Wednesday for the area's bar association to conduct a wide review of the Kansas City Municipal Court following more bad PR.

Clearly, this is a bold step with less than a year in office given the decades long history of bribery, absurdly large salaries and overall complacency that the Municipal Court system is famous for . . . After years of doing absolutely nothing, I have no idea why Mayor Kay would even bother investigating anything other than retirement communities.
