"It's a madhouse, a madhouse!"

From last Friday:

Fires Set, Fight Breaks Out At Southeast High School
5 Students Arrested; Police Use Pepper Spray On Crowd

These stories are pretty commonplace when it comes to the KC School District. Around 30 years ago Southeast used to be one of the best high schools in the city. And then desegregation and white-flight took their toll on the city and its schools. Since then, virtually every plan to fix the school district has failed and test scores and (most importantly) overall confidence in the KC School District dropped to embarrassing levels.

Currently, one of the only things the school district has excelled at is providing fodder/filler for local media and reminding suburban students how tough they aren't.

Update: Lackluster education continues until the next near riot.
