AFTERMATH: KANSAS CITY MLK ADVISORY COMMITTEE TOUTS NEW AIRPORT CIVIL RIGHTS ICON TRIBUTE AS DEBATE FRACTURES LOCAL POLITICAL INTERESTS!!!

Our blog community previewed the decision and then broke the news yesterday on a daunting decision confronting Kansas City regarding MLK tribute.

The aftermath:

- Some local leaders call the decision "daring" and the topic has already garnered national attention.

- Kansas City Aviation Leadership seems skeptical.

- The group will present this final recommendation to Mayor James Monday afternoon.

Nevertheless . . .

LOCAL NEWSIES WILL EVENTUALLY GET AROUND TO COVERING TKC FIRST NEWS: OUR BLOG COMMUNITY FIRST NOTED THE HIGH PRICE OF "NAMING RIGHTS" FROM THE KING FAMILY THAT HAS BEEN HERETOFORE UNMENTIONED!!!

Credit where it's due, some locals think we might get a freebie or at least a discount.

A few more points to consider . . .

- The Revs are not backing down, they'll continue to push the Paseo rename issue for an August ballot decision.

- Some members of the committee STILL suggest that 63rd Street could be renamed ALONG with the new airport -- There is a real possibility that KCMO could see BOTH options move forward.

- There is NOBODY PUBLICLY ADVOCATING AGAINST some kind of KCMO MLK naming tribute. Don't let anonymous trolls bully local opinion too much because the real debate is over the specifics of the tribute. In the end, some kind of MLK honor is an inevitability and something that most locals in the mainstream think is long overdue.

Finally . . .

Credit to Mayor Sly on this issue that he has navigated expertly so far. By taking the debate outside of the sphere of neighborhood politics he has encouraged real local conversation on this issue and sparked a debate that goes beyond the group of Revs who, some say, threaten to reinforce dividing lines for their community.

Developing . . .

    1. Here's something for you to think about T.

The airport is not a shopping mall.

      It's not a museum.

      It's not a restaurant.

The airport is simply a place where people land to get to their real destination. It is not a destination in and of itself. This is something that KC has lost track of and that is getting lost in all of our discussions about the future of the biggest building project in modern KCMO history.

    FACT :

Typical of just how a Degenerate Leftist "COMMUNIST" Liberal would go about renaming anything in the city !

Never hold it to a PUBLIC VOTE !! by the Citizens ???

instead selectively chosen a "very select group", who'll help push your pathetic commie liberal agenda, under disguise !!

Also make Damn sure nobody from the MEDIA NEVER EVER Mentions that using the "MLK Name" will cost them BIG BUCKS $$$$$$$ (Tax Payers) !!

Be Damn sure to keep that Quiet in the local Kansas City liberal News Media !!!

Wouldn't want the KC Tax Payers to ever find out, that they are going to be paying "BIG MONEY $$$$$" for the use & Rights of the MLK name !!

Kind of like that Disastrous & pathetic "SHOT Tracker" the city of KCMO pays over $500,000 a year to have which doesn't really do a Damn thing,, supposed to track gun fire shots in certain areas, which evidently doesn't do a very good job from the high MURDER RATES !!

About like all that TAX Payer Money KCMO Mayor SLY JAMES & Jean Peters Baker gave to those "supposed" Anti-Crime Groups into the hundreds of thousands of dollars the last few years - which is a JOKE givin' the high Murder Rates in KCMO !!!

As usual the Clueless Naïve uneducated KCMO Idiots will turn a blind eye to all this, and the city will continue to turn into an utter pathetic Shit hole , by these Degenerate pathetic Commie' Liberal Shit Stain Democrats, and they'll be chocked full of lousy excuses as to why, everything but the Truth & Facts !!!

Welcome to "Chocolate City" - Kansas City Missouri, land of Degenerate pathetic disgusting Communist Liberals, High Crime, Murders, Rapes, Car Jackings, High Speed Car Chases, and last but NOT Least "Criminal Coddling" Judges & prosecutors and a Degenerate Dipshit liberal Mayor, named SLY JAMES, Certified Commie Scumbag !!!

  8. More "Plaques For Blacks" in the hopes that they will somehow stop being blacks if the city kisses even more black ass (If that is even possible.).

At this point, any reasonable person must just shake their heads and wonder when the insanity will end. The ongoing pretense that "diversity" is a strength and that 80 to 90% of all of our troubles don't originate with the black race. Never. The lion's share of media blitzes us daily with the sins of 2% of Americans who actually owned slaves and those sins are a crown of thorns we are forced to accept daily in atonement to black idiots and criminals who either hate whites, or, are, after generations of entitlement have come to accept the eternal and expected guilt and cash leched from our wallets.

It's a sickening lie and so, of course, those Progressives that hate white people, will rub it in the faces of the entire city with a tribute to MLK. This tribute is most certainly NOT about a great man, but is a continuation of a great lie. We all must believe, in spite of the unambiguated evidence on a daily basis, to the contrary, that if not for "Raycisssm", a lack of "diversity", etc. etc. etc. that blacks would be curing cancer and solving that pesky cold fusion problem when not continuing their studies of the Latin First Declension.

In truth, blacks have, with very few exceptions, one skill other than sports. Whining about "racism".

What a joke and what a joke that airport will be when it is named after MLK.

  9. One of the reverends was on tv just now and said “it will bring more business to the city” as the main reason for naming the airport. Uh huh, sure it will, he said we would be the only idiots, I mean city in the world to do so, wow, worst reason ever

    **************************************************************

The "King family" has long been criticized for "insisting on payment for the use of their father's name", image, speeches and virtually "anything" that they can claim for themselves or their foundation.

The family reached a new low this week when it was revealed that they had been paid more than $800,000 by the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation for the use of King's image and words on the planned King memorial on Washington's Mall.

For many years, the family has insisted that although King may have been called the nation's prophet, he is their property. Of course, it is the profits, and not the prophet himself, that has led them regularly to court to fight over royalties and control.

The surviving children of King have been feuding in court since July, when daughter Bernice and son Martin Luther King III filed a lawsuit against their brother, Dexter, chief executive of the family corporation, King Inc., accusing him of misusing funds. He countersued, saying they had obstructed the goals of the King Center.

The siblings' most recent battle involved a $1.4-million book deal with New York publisher Penguin Group for a ghostwritten memoir of Coretta Scott King. Dexter King went to court to compel his siblings to turn over photographs and personal papers for the project. The siblings resisted, saying that their mother had decided before her death that she no longer wanted author Barbara Reynolds to do the book

*** In the latest "monumental shakedown", "the King family"'s Intellectual Properties Management Inc. was paid $761,160 by the nonprofit foundation raising money for the Washington memorial. This was on top of a "management" fee of $71,700 paid in 2003.

The Kings have defended the payments by noting that donations to the foundation have been down because people were giving to the monument fund instead.

  11. Unfortunately anything named after MLK is now associated with crime and blight. Naming an airport after him would associate the entire city with crime and blight. Perhaps not unfair in the case of KCMO but not something any city wants.

  12. HOW & WHY the MLK KING Name will cost Tax Payers $$$$$$ millions

MLK Memorial Foundation "Forced To Change Name" By King Children !

And on October 16, 2011, the idea to build a monument in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., an idea that began 28 years earlier at the kitchen table of a member of his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., came to fruition.

    and THEN this Happened ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Less than two years later, however, the organizing force behind the national monument – the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Foundation – is "NO MORE", after the surviving children of Martin and Coretta Scott King "refused to grant a license" for the group to continue to use the name “Martin Luther King Jr.”

*** All of this "despite the foundation" Paying "MLK children" through King, Inc., "$2.7 million" to use the likeness of King and his quotes on the memorial on the National Mall.

"Civil rights historians" who have studied King and his family say the "move follows a familiar pattern", one in which King’s children tightly control his image – and use a "heavy hand to protect it".

“As we’ve seen for over 15 years now, the "behavior of the family’s financial representatives" continue to do "active harm" to Dr. King’s legacy,” said Garrow, a University of Pittsburgh law professor !!

King’s legacy has a "reduced visibility" and less substantive visibility "because of the family’s demands",” said Garrow, noting that the family’s estate has "raked in millions" through the years by managing their father’s “brand” — "something King himself would have adamantly rejected" !!!!

  13. CBS NEWS 60 Minutes INVESTIGATES using the MLK Name !!!

Controversy Over Use Of King Name

Prominent members of the "Black community", including the chairman of the "NAACP", are "criticizing the family of Dr. Martin Luther King" Jr. for selling the image and words of the civil rights martyr for "profit" $$$$$$$$$

The King family also "charges media organizations" and scholars who want to use "Dr. King's words or image for publication or broadcast" !!

The family has sued organizations, including CBS News and USA Today, for using King's words "without paying a licensing fee". Both cases were settled out of court.

"I think Martin Luther King must be "spinning in his grave"," says Bill Rutherford, who was executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference when King was murdered. "He gave his life for his ideas of justice, peace and love. He attempted his entire life to "communicate ideas for free". To communicate, not to sell," he says.

  14. Good point that anything named after MLK is associated with crime and blight. That's what Mayor James and the city officials have done to K.C. our city is going down pretty fast. Again this has nothing to do with MLK, it's a black power movement and will only result in more racial divide, because of the fact that it is being done years to late and MLK was never here. They are using MLK's name for selfish and racist reasons and that's pretty sad.

Other ideas for naming the KCI Airport, that doesn't have to do with RACE !!!!

    1 : Howard Huges

    2 : Karen Silk Wood

    3: Juan Tripp

    4: Henry Ford

    5: Thomas Edison

    6: Wright Brothers

    7: Constellation

Evidently the "Democratic Liberals" clearly only are concerned with everything about "RACE" !!!

They know very little about Innovation , inventions , ideas, industrial age, etc.

All they evidently know is about RACE, violence, hate and anything that's pathetic and Destructive and disruptive !

and if you don't play along with their twisted mentality, than they love to call you a Racist and or a BIGOT,,,

  25. Quick question:

Black folks in favor of renaming the Paseo: why would you want to choose a street that fits the stereotype of "MLK Blvd is dangerous" (for whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, etc.)?

  26. Quick question for white folks:

Why do any of you care? How does it affect your life? You're going to be dead soon.

  27. Renaming Linwood would be a bad idea because the streetcar will not stop there.

It just got moved to 31st St!
(They moved the Linwood stop there, because that's where the crosstown bus stop is, the one poor folks PAY to ride. But then kept the useless stop at 27th, between Union Stn. and 31st--so rich folks at Crown Center/Santa Fe Place and the law firm there, can catch the streetcar without walking up the steep hill.)

I do think an east/west street is best. the airport would be OK but only without paying naming rights, which ain't gonna happen. A few exhibits on the walls would be fine for people stuck during layovers or delayed flights. But nobody GOES to an airport because of the name. So the fool who claimed we would have more visitors is delusional.

The Linwood streetcar stop (especially if they name it MLK) would have made sense to keep--so people could go to Costco, and then just walk 2 blocks to the stop.

Screw the rich at 27th St!! The committee also claimed it was to serve the Federal Reserve Bank! LOL. Who goes there? No one. Unless you are one of 25 million tourists, and instead of going to a Royals game, you get off on buying a bag of shredded outdated currency.

Should be a pretty good deal for us. It's a real bonus that the late civil rights leader's name can be used in such a dishonest marketing scheme.

But if we name the airport after MLK, what will we name after Sly James? Maybe the smelly elevator at Berkley Riverfront Park where the hobos have sex. The Sly James Copulatervator. Fuck it. I'm going to start calling it that whether y'all make it official or not.
