Insiders tell us that this has been the best year that a suburbanite vanity press has ever seen . . . The death of traditional news sources has given way to a golden era in sponsored content and in that respect a JoCo magazine stands above the rest in garnering pay for play content - It's just hard to refuse the wheeling and dealings of middle-class white ladies . . . Still, this good news also brings fear that a marketing duo on the rise will take it all away or at least make fighting over advertiser cash a bit more complicated.
Sadly, we don't have any assurances to offer but can only share a nicely crafted list featuring oh so many complicated favors and deals that most of the plebs who mindlessly consume so much garbage content might not ever understand. Checkit:

Best of Kansas City 2017
By Kate Baxendale, Lio Chen, Jan Dumay, Kelsie Schrader, Allyson Wilson It's no secret that we live in one the nation's greatest cities. So great, in fact, that it was not a stretch to complete this cast list of our favorite Kansas City characters. Narrowing it down was the hard part.
Vanity press is exactly right.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a serious effort from real journalists, it's marketing.
These magazines are nothing but a scam on businesses who are way to impressed with fake numbers. Best of lists are a running joke for people who really care about local restaurants.
Your google rating is far more important.
Hey now, what about the wild man? He's been telling everybody he's going to take back the crown and finally get his act together with some great writing that's sure to inspire a lot of interest.
DeleteWe all know how much the KC area needs another blog full of fat white women who infrequently publish but remain outwardly angry because they got every brake in life but still didn't manage to do any better than a chubby, sarcastic Mexican who simply likes to write.
^^^ Get a room asshole!
DeleteHey, at least this sort of "Best Of" nonsense keeps a few of the JOCO "Trendy" Suburbanites away from the good places in town we can go to for food, drinks and fun!
ReplyDeleteI think we should encourage these Ladies in their efforts to draw the inconsequential to the immaterial!
Never heard of them
ReplyDeleteIs 435Mag where the JoCo whores talk about their weekly bunco games?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss those great Pitch advertisements including gay bath houses, happy ending massages, dui lawyers, lonely hearts, escort services and all that other shit that appeals to the high class readers of the Pitch.

ReplyDeleteUnsubstantiated rumor.
The death of traditional news sources has given way to a golden era in sponsored content and in that respect a JoCo magazine stands above the rest in garnering pay for play content - It's just hard to refuse the wheeling and dealings of middle-class white ladies . . .
Broad sexist generalization.
Still, this good news also brings fear that a marketing duo on the rise will take it all away or at least make fighting over advertiser cash a bit more complicated.
Fear!!!

Nothingburger, cheap shot at ordinary people.
Good job Tony. Boy are these posts easy to break down.
Wildman spends his days on TKC blog looking for journalism, that is important work. Keep it up. BUT I don't think your making the impact you want.
DeleteI get so frickin' tired of these "Best of" lists. So what? Doesn't make any difference. One of the posters had it right when they said it was just self-promotion.
ReplyDelete^^^ +1
ReplyDeleteWhen done right they are worthwhile but mostly a ploy.
