TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! AMID HISTORIC KANSAS CITY BLOODSHED: AIM4PEACE EARNS ANOTHER $600K!!!

Behind the scenes of historic Kansas City violence, here's another look at the cost of the carnage that's not as important as the human toll but still reveals an ongoing investment in the fight against crime . . .

Ordinance #160977: Appropriating $612,000.00 into the Governmental Grant Fund; and accepting and approving a $612,000.00 grant award amendment from the U.S. Department of Justice, to provide funding to the Aim4Peace Program; and designating requisitioning authority.

Remember that at the outset of last year this group earned more than a million bucks of Federal funding so this cash award actually represents a decrease in resources.

There has been criticism of Aim4Peace for quite some time and their stats about preventing violence are pseudoscience at best BUT even during one of the most violent years in recent Kansas City history, new community-based and City Hall supported anti-violence initiatives have FAILED to take hold. . . . For the most part, with an exception of a disappointing Mayor's Task Force Against Violence, local politicos have ignored the spate of local killing compared with a far more active economic development agenda. And so, this scaled back funding seemingly hopes to curb the local homicide trend with less money and without a new plan. Will it work?

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. It might work if Aim4Peace encourages people to cooperate with police and stand up against criminals.

If not, it's just more money and lives wasted.

    1. Kansas City is donating to Aim4Pockets, not Grandview. Grandview, in comparison, is a much friendlier town than Kansas City. Aim4Peace would be exposed for the fraud it is in Grandview.

  4. What is incentive for AimForPeace to reduce crime? The higher the crime rate goes, the more money they get.

If the crime rate dropped substantially, so would the funding for this group. There seems to be a direct correlation between contributions and crime. That doesn't mean they're causing the crime because I don't think that's true at all, but it incentivises poor results with real money.

If anything I think that we have demonstrated that throwing money at the ad hoc group is absolutely pointless unless the goal is to maintain the status quo.

You cannot buy your way out of interpersonal violence in the innerrcity. And yet here we are in the middle of this multimillion-dollar experiment and nobody seems to be able to figure it out.

It's time to quit rewarding failure. It's time for the community-based nonprofit money pits to go to the corner and never be heard from again. We've tried this. It has failed. It failed under Cleaver. It failed under Barnes. It failed under Funkhouser. It continues to fail today.

  6. don't know or care much about this.

  9. Apparently the Federal Department of justice has a whole lot more money than it has sense or concern for how taxpayer money is spent, and of course, the local KCMO folks are perfectly happy to watch money wasted, all the while making believe that frauds like Aim4Peace plays any role whatsoever in addressing crime or the horrendous murder rate in the city.
And to top it off, this program came to KC from, of all places, Chicago, where two days with 35 shootings and five murders is called "a weekend".
You really can't make this stuff up!

  10. Trump likes aiming for pee, so I'm sure he supports this program!

    1. That's because there is no leadership! The chief hasn't been to work this year. When he does go to work he promotes and moves those that fuck everything up...violent crimes unit case in point! He promoted the fool who was over the unit that was supposed to take care of kids and put him over violent crimes..see how they turned out. Now he has been moved to the northland. Mark my words!...it will be fucked up in no time!

  14. 12:55 you've got to be kidding. It hasn't worked yet so why would it now. All that happens is our taxes go to line the pockets of some East side grifters. I would love to know why there aren't independent auditors that watch where the money goes.

  23. I work in this industry. If you think these results are paltry all I ask you to do is reflect on the fact that KC (metro) will soon be home to the biggest stained glass window in the world. 90 million dollars. Sure, give me 1 million and ask me to intervene in the ex con and poor folk biz, and yeah I'll do what I can do. But please understand the difference in magnitude.

  24. Hand KC boons a shitload of Federal Tax Payer cash to fight boon thug crime and then bitch that Trump might have conflicts of interest. Gotta love these boss hog politicians.

  27. This is a group run by by felons, bullies, and scammers. No results for their so-called "programs", absolutely NO accountability for all those tax dollars they have access to, and they do NOT lend any assistance or relay any information to the police. In fact, the PD has been told to not "interfere" with them at hospitals, crime scenes, etc. The inmates are truly running the asylum.

  28. 7:56 I do not attend that church, or any church for that matter. I'm was appalled at the price tag myself so I read up on it. That stained glass is coming from 100% donations. In other words, no taxpayers money is involved, unlike these worthless endeavors. I don't agree with such a show of wealth but it's their money they can do what they want whereas my taxes go to a worthless organization like this with no results and no oversight. That's a big difference.
