THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! SHOW-ME FACT CHECK AMID MISSOURI SENATE FIGHT: TRUMP ONLY HURTS BLUNT AS MUCH AS HILLARY HELPS KANDER!!!
Local mainstream media and Democratic activists across the nation are looking down ballot in Missouri and hoping that a nasty controversy involving Trump will help upstart candidate Jason Kander unseat Senate incumbent Roy Blunt. It's a good theory but isn't supported by anything more than partisan taking points.
We sent a question to a somewhat high ranking Kansas City political consultant today and this was the reply . . .
"Connecting Blunt to Trump is a good move by Kander but I'm not sure it will be successful. It opens him up to his connection with Hillary Clinton. Don't forget, Blunt has only given his tacit support to the GOP nominee but Kander has voted with Hillary on Obamacare, he's a high ranking member of her Missouri campaign committee and supports her gun control efforts. If we're going to compare who stands with with their party's Presidential candidate - Kander is far closer to Hillary Clinton than Senator Blunt is to Trump . . . And Missouri has spoken loud and clear about its dislike for Secretary Clinton."
What's interesting in this instance is to see how quickly some Kansas City media hacks take to this Kander press release and hold it up as fact . . . There are a lot of reasons to pick Kander over Blunt but exploiting this trash tv controversy doesn't seem like it's moving the needle among Missouri voters.

As for down ballot implications . . . Playing up unwise comments for political gain is a ploy perfected in a past Missouri Senate race and we've long noted that Hillary is just running an updated version of Missouri's McCaskill vs. Akin match with a dumb comment to hold over the opposition.
Still, Both Missouri and Kansas remain solidly Red States and it's unlikely that anything is going to change that . . .

The Missouri U.S. Senate race (Senator Blunt vs. Kander) can be compared to the national Presidential race (Trump vs. Clinton).
ReplyDeleteI'm a political Independent, not enamored with Trump, but will gladly vote for him, as under no circumstances would I ever cast a vote for another Clinton. We know Clinton is anathema to all Americans but the super-wealthy and corporate oligarchy. We're willing to take our chances with a President Trump.
Likewise, in Missouri, Senator Blunt may sport some warts, but he'll be getting my vote, because once again, under no circumstances would I support Kander who's fully supported the Obama/Clinton economic torture upon Americans, while destroying multiple countries (Iraq, Ukraine, Libya, Syria).
Kander will score well in St.Louis and KC, but Blunt will dominate in Springfield and the rest of the state. Most Missourians can't relate to Kander, a Liberal Hillary-lover from Kansas, Jewish, married to a woman from the Soviet Union, who has repeatedly lied to voters, while supporting higher taxes, bigger government, abortion, gay marriage, and gun restrictions.
BLUNT wins 65 to 35.
In Sunday's Presidential debate, you know Hillary and the corporate media moderators will attempt to pound Trump on the recently leaked sexist comments he made 11 years ago during a private conversation. Trump should go on a full frontal assault, listing Bill Clinton's rape victims, Hillary's long list of crimes, all the oppressive regimes which donated to the Clinton Foundation in exchange for favors, the phony Clinton marriage, Hillary and Huma's 20-year domestic partnership, Chelsea Clinton's true biological father, Clinton's selling military secrets to the Chinese, and helping the Russians secure uranium stockpiles, etc.
