SHOW-ME KANSAS CITY FAIR WAGE FIGHT FOR $15 WORKERS ORGANIZING 'SHUT DOWN THE CAPITOL!' MISSOURI PROTEST!!!

Currently, a controversial and potentially groundbreaking court case is still in play for the ongoing effort to raise the Kansas City minimum wage to $15 despite Missouri State Law.

And so . . .

On Labor Day it's important to document the ongoing arguments of these local activist who rage on local streets and will be coming soon to the Missouri State Capitol even as their corporate employers are quickly working to replace them with machines.

Take look:

9/12 Shut Down the Capitol!

On September 12th, low-wage workers, people of faith, union members, clergy, students, and community organizations will come together at state capitols across America.

From across the state, we converge on Jefferson City with a simple demand for lawmakers: Stop undermining Missouri's state motto and "Let the Welfare of the People Be the Supreme Law!" Stop condemning Kansas City's working families to poverty by blocking out $13 minimum wage increase, which we passed last year! Halt your anti-democratic and racist efforts to strip us of our voting rights by putting voter ID on the November election! Cease attacks on our unions! And allow Medicaid to expand and give working people and the poor the healthcare each of us deserves!

Our multi-racial movement will speak with one voice on the 12th and proclaims we won't fall prey to any attempts to divide and conquer the people of our nation with hate and bigotry. Join us as we come together to demonstrate to Jefferson City and our country, "This is what democracy looks like!"

  2. "This is what democracy looks like." No, that's what mob rule looks like. On the 12th they will recite all the usual leftist bromides, yell out a few chants that more or less rhyme, get plenty of coverage from the leftist press, then go home and wait for their Soros check to clear. Full of the sound and the fury, signifying nothing.

  4. It turns out that SEIU, which pays people to demonstrate for a higher minimum wage and the right to unionize, is contesting the right of its demonstrators to form a union. This is similar to the refusal of college and university administrators to recognize the right of their graduate assistants to unionize. Both groups are unprincipled hypocrites.

  7. No one involved in what Kevin D. Williamson correctly calls a "deeply stupid conversation" about so-called living wages has EVER been able to answer a question fundamental to this issue: Why not $100 an hour? Why not $500, like a high-end lawyer gets? Who determined that $15 was the right amount? Sure, it's "right"--right what they need to make them THINK they're getting ahead . . . on $31,000 a year. Some life.

Get an education, even vo-tech certification. Get some job experience. This issue then takes care of itself. Otherwise, it's just a palm extended in "gimme" mode.

  9. When I look at that picture with the protesters all I see is a group of people wanting to be paid $15 per hour so they can work half the number of hours they do now and still get all the extra handout benefits they are currently receiving. In fact I'd like to see the statistics of the number in this group that would even take a full time job at $15 an hour and really show up for work the full 40 hour week after 4 to 6 weeks.

I know of a number of people including myself looking for help and here is what we see all the time.

    1. You post an for a job and get anywhere from 20 to over a hundred resumes. That's not counting the one's who text a message to the email address with just a phone number on it when the job post very clearly says send a resume. Resumes are great, very simple to make, and you can weed out who isn't a candidate for the job without either party wasting one another's time with interviews. If you can't follow some simple directions most won't hire you.

    2. If you list a phone number to be reached at, it might be nice if you answered it yourself or had who ever answers it, not act all pissed off that you are calling them trying to reach you.

    3. If you set up an interview, at least have the common courtesy to show up for it, or at the very least, call and say you can't make it.

    4. And if you show up for an interview at least try to appear and act like you want the job and wear something that doesn't look like you have worn or slept in for a week. Oh, I almost forgot, wearing wife beaters or halter tops saying "I am Sexy" along with flip flops will not make you a desirable candidate for most jobs.

Face it, there are huge numbers of people, that just flat out don't want to work for a living.

  10. "...all I see is a group of people wanting to be paid $15 per hour...." Actually, they are demonstrators hired and paid by the SEIU. And the SEIU is not paying them $15 per hour. That's why the hired demonstrators want to unionize.

  11. It's not happening. Re- train to take care of the sick and dying. That will be steady work.

  12. Sometimes you really have to wonder just how stupid people can be.
Get a gang of no-information folks who don't have any ideas or suggestions, nor have any intention of improving their own lots by getting more education or training.
Bus them to Jeff City so that they can chant, shout, march around, lie on the capitol floor, and otherwise disrupt the people who work there and some of who might actually support raising the minimum wage.
Nothing like turning off the very folks your cause is depending on.
Who provides the "leadership" for such stupidity?

  13. if there weren't a big pool of illegal workers, the minimum wage would be higher.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The answer isn't about how much illegals want. Why do we not have the leadership in America to enforce laws on those criminals like they wish to do on American citizens. Why doess it take me longer to get on an airplane then it takes them to get into this country? Why is it if my state ID isn't correct I can not even get on the plane, but undocumented illegals get rewarded for breaking the law? Why are we reelecting the balless ass holes in Washington who will trade votes for integrity any day of the week?
