Well, what is the purpose of the exercise? Even if the whole crew acted unethically the city manager ain't coming back so move on ya rednecks. This bunch is like the PTA fighting over who is going to control the next school dance.

ReplyDeleteThe whole problem is condensed into one paragraph in the article: "Citizens cannot request a board of ethics opinion; only council members or the city manager can, and the city manager can’t request one relating to a council member or board member.
ReplyDeleteDid the Board of Ethics issue an opinion about a city manager drunk with his pants around his knees in an alley in Lee's Summit? The only thing the city council did wrong was wait all this time to fire this idiot.
ReplyDeleteSeriously! The ethics problem was, in fact, failing to fire the city manager over his past transgressions. Given that the Chief of Police answers directly to the city manager in Independence leaving the city manager in place after his drunken alley blow job is a serious lapse in ethics. However, since no citizen could get an opinion on ethics the then existing city government failed to act appropriately. Now a couple of these corrupt old school sonzabitches are no longer in charge of jack shit and are making this attempt at slinging power.
ReplyDeleteWhat needs to happen is the removal of the last of these worthless fucks. Weir is no princess, but she sure doesn't have a pile of profitable side interests tied to city priorities. The city has a new police chief who is moving the department out of the 1950's and making some tough decisions to clean up what was a big mess.
Independence is shaking the "meth" issues and starting to move into the new millennium. They do not need the power grabbing jealous, shit for brains, old school control freaks holding the city back and playing these damn political games.
