Not so long ago our blog community was the FIRST newsy outlet to report the reemergence of Katheryn Shields on the Kansas City political scene and her EPIC council challenge.
Now . . .
KATHERYN SHIELDS HAS SHOCKED KANSAS CITY AND MOVED WITHIN A RAZOR THIN MARGIN OF VICTORY AND POSSIBLY RETURN TO POWER AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!!!
Accordingly . . .

Ms. Shields and her competitor Jim Glover have been around Kansas City politics FOREVER, they're both Democratic Party loyalists and they run in the same circle of lawyers and socialites who have always ruled the 4th District and most of local politics with a gilded heavy hand.
However . . . It's the little difference that matter and changes Ms. Shields has been able to tweak in her political profile power her 2015 comeback tour.
Meanwhile, Council Dude Glover is still talking about CostCo development on Linwood and Main more than 20 years after the fact . . .
Katheryn Shields has a series of new talking points that signal a departure from her old political persona.
It's not exactly a makeover but more of a re-branding.

Katheryn Shields is running as a feminist
Gender identity culture war politics power the recent political rhetoric of Ms. Shields. She warns against a city council with no females and proudly champions the cause of groups like the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus and their slate which bans men.
Katheryn Shields is playing nice with the firefighters . . .
She's the Local 42 candidate in this race and while she's always had a good relationship with the firefighters, this time union insiders seem to be putting most of their effort into backing her play.
Most importantly . . .
The kinder, gentler Katheryn Shields is more accessible, friendly and tolerant of the community . . .
In a low turnout election, Kansas City Insiders aren't just being nice when they note that KATHERYN SHIELDS NAILED THE TKC INTERVIEW and that just might have been the spark that powered her skyrocketing comeback journey. Again, in a low voter turnout election a 5 minute talk that reached tens of thousands of people on the day before the election was A BIG DEAL.
Just a few years ago Ms. Shields was lambasted in the media and they nearly chased her from the courthouse with pitchforks and torches . . .
But now, in a contest betwixt two longtime political stalwarts of Kansas City . . . Katheryn Shields offers new talking/selling points to beleaguered voters desperate to find something to believe in after so many disappointments. This new attitude, new allegiances and fresh perspective could be the key to the renaissance of an old school Kansas city politico looking to return to power.
