TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! POLLSTER INFO: HERE'S WHERE KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY'S POPULARITY STANDS!!!

Recently, we asked our blog community to rank the popularity of Kansas City politicos . . .

And so . . .

THIS MORNING KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDERS SHARE EXCLUSIVE DATA ON MAYOR SLY'S POPULARITY!!!

Here's the data with a lot of deets that should ring true for our blog community insiders, we've highlighted some of the more intriguing deets:

Poll position #3: Sly James

he polling was based upon the popularity, likability and thus electability of all elected officials on the Missouri side only. The results were spread over 5 instruments (benchmark polls) and over a two year period (last one in November/December) in a four county area (Clay, Platte, Jackson and northern Cass). The polls were all done by national firms or their affiliates as people began to look at, among other things, possible candidates for higher offices. Thus, many many MANY politicians were polled and they likely weren't even aware of it, and aren't aware of the aggregate results. We have created rolling averages over the last two years and have a clear #1-#3. These results are based upon data and analysis, not agendas. So, read it and weep KC Metro politicians, the numbers don't lie.

No surprise for us, but the top three were all Democrats and current office holders. Coming in at #3:

3. Sly James: Polling shows that Sly started strong, but peaked almost two years ago (winter of 2013) as the #2 favorite politico. He has seen his negatives nearly double to almost 22% in the last 18 months. A trend line of climbing negatives for any politician is simply poison. Several reasons can be given for this downward trend, but the most common themes seem to be his failures surrounding major projects (e.g. - streetcar election and airport are the two biggest statistical mentions). The trend line is clearly down for KC's mayor as he teters close to the #4 spot.

Later, the KC Metro's #2 favorite politico . . .

  1. If Sly had the right challenger, he would be in trouble.

  2. That picture would be more appropriate if he had his pockets turned inside out and was shrugging with a sheepish grin on his face.

Sly and Ol' Russ Johnson are no longer in demand
Their immortal soul's my lay forever in the sand
The angels wouldn’t take them up to heaven like they planned
‘Cause they couldn’t pry that toy train from their cold dead hands

  5. As someone who voted for Sly the last time, I can speak for myself and say his popularity with me peaked before he:

    (1) decided the taxpayers should foot the bill for 19th Century transit by managing to get 355 people to vote for the starter line,

    (2) put an acerbic, lazy, self-described mental giant in charge of selling the project and then refusing to accept the will of the voters,

    (3) advocated for the destruction of our passenger-friendly airport in favor of an inconvenient one just because every other city has one,

    (4) advocated for a 1,000-room downtown hotel paid for by taxpayers that would supposedly bring conventions and tourists to Kansas City,

    (5) neglected neighborhoods, streets, and all the other failing infrastructure except except can be done in conjunction with laying streetcar tracks.

That said, I'm sure Sly will win another term, but this time he'll do it without my vote.

  6. No arguing with math. The fact that he's still #3 shows how weak our area leaders are.

  7. It comes down to the fact that white voters will attack a successful black man when they feel he overstays his welcome (to them.) You have seen a rising level of vitriole towards nearly all successful black men in politics. The Juliani comments towards Obama are exhibit A. No white president has been subjected to the same level of gutter politics than we have witnessed towards the current POTUS. It's painfully clear that while Jim Crow is no longer law, it still is a pervasive attitude in the hearts of many in this country.

  10. Another day, another 24 hours of meaningless drivel by Tony and his Denizens.

But wait. Here is a chance to move the metaphorical needle by offering constructive feedback relating to input from the People.

So, inhale and experience the constructive communication provided by, none other than, the last free speech zone in western civilization.

Wait, upon second review we find hateful crap facilitated by the ability to cower behind anonymous posts made by people who acknowledge that anyone not in lock step with their point of view is worthless.

And, yet, they collectively howl, "why wont people listen to us?".

And in reply, the answer comes back to them in the form of another 24 hours passing, with Tony continuing to post, and all of the sniveling about pot holes, blacks, marathons, airports, and transportation slowly moving to the cyberspace archives where nothing comes of them.

If this seems like the movie Groundhogs Day, you have gotten the point.

    Carry on.

  11. I see the Mayor's hacks are out this morning not accepting the reality that their meal-ticket is not that popular. Yes, ignore his failures (many) and say this must be nothing more than racism by thee folks in KC that his popularity is waning. If so, how do you explain his, Cleaver's and Obamas candidacy's? Faced it, your guy is simply a below average mayor. Black, white or yellow, he is a loser and so are you.

  12. As I said before, investigate the $750,000 Mayor's Night-Club KC-Night Hoops. It is a kickback scheme. Each year they put the program up for RFP bid but they never awarded to any new individuals or organizations. They continue to give it to an inside organization.... I know this first hand. In fact one organization offered to run the program for free and was denied. reason they was denied is because then the city officials running the program will have to account for the $750,000..... This is how the scam works. The individual overseeing the program contacts close friends and have them submit a bid for the RFP. They then provide them with all of the information that they need to meet the criteria's of the RFP. The bidding organization place a bid and kickback compensation to the city official. Ask yourself how does it cost $400,000 to run a 3 month program when all that the program offers is teens coming to Brush Creek Community Center for a 4 hour party. The host organization pays the DJ and a few staff members. Security is provided by KCPD and the facility is free through Park and Rec. Last year alone, a guy received $370,000 for the program...... I urge everyone to call 816-513-7500 and demand all bids be made to public and petition the program. Trust me I know this information first hand.

  13. I don't even live in KC deep thinker.

Denial is the first stage (of several) of loss. Moving through them quickly is better than hanging at one stage.

    Again, carry on.

Predicting more tomorrow, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, etc...does not make me the most clairvoyant person in the Midwest.

OH MY GOD. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WE COULD HAVE A SUNDAY SPECIAL?

  15. Word is that Sly is waiting it out to be handed Cleaver's spot in Congress. Sly will be mayor again, then run for Congress in his last year when Cleaver announces he is retiring. Sly will be elected to Congress cuz he is the right color. White people cannot be allowed to represent the 5th district in Congress; it's a black seat.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Other then putting KC in financial hole since his term began what has he accomplished? Downtown was making a comeback without him and without the toy train.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can't think of anything other then dividing the city, increasing hostilities, and pissing off a lot of people.

    Sly groupies? All ears

There ya go, forget the record, if there are attacks against the mayor, it is, of course, racist.

    Shut the fuck up.

  22. People, people, you folks act like your actions and opinions matter to Uncle Sly, Congressman Carwash or Brother Obama. They don’t matter to these people, they do not work for you. America was never really a democracy, meaning a polity in which final power rested with the people. The voters have always been too remote from the levers of power to have much influence. Uncle Sly came through for his masters just as Rev. Carwash did and he will get the same reward. Uncle Sly got the local power elite on his side because he is their front man or dare I say, their House Nigger. The Kansas City Elite took a page from the Democrat playbook, get yourself a well-educated and articulate black man and you got a Teflon front man. You can then dismiss the opposition’s criticism as racist. Because of his color and party affiliation, you got the Media immediately on your side. Will the brothers and sisters better off with 8 years of black mayor leadership and twenty five years of black representation in Congress? Don’t make me laugh. If Black America has any more help from their own concerned leaders, the inner cities of America will look like something out of the Walking Dead.

  28. 2:52 you sir have been baptized in the Jordan River of reason and you have seen the light. Remember people, the paper ballot has gone the way of the Dodo Bird. They might as well have the panel from American Idol monitor the presidential debate and select the next POTUS. That would be more democracy than the present system.

STFU Black people hate him too. I'm black and wouldn't and didn't vote for him - not because he is or isn't black (enough) but because he's an ass. Sorry, that scenario may apply to some Black men but not at all to this one. And - Yes, he's overstayed his welcome.

It was the same scam with East Patrol. While there are some RFP bids for this project - there's not nearly as many as need be for the number of people they "hired". That's why the didn't make a budget to begin with - causing it to claim cost overruns on among other things "soft cost" - which means somebody like the attorneys working on the project, the architect and several City workers got huge kickbacks. Now, look at the City budget where they're reducing the police budget and ask how is that possible amid the renewal of the 1/4 public safety sales tax. 100% scam and fraud.

  33. I thought is was hilarious how so many people wondered who the hell is Sly James? .. when special interests put their boy - front man into the game.

Well we got an ambulance chaser. End story.

  34. Better an ambulance chaser than an insurance lacky.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hope he enjoys the next four years of hell he's going to get from a pissed off citizenry.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ambulance chaser and insurance lackey are the same thing. Insurance usually pays when an attorney is chasing ambulances. Duh!
