MUST READ!!! KCPD CHIEF FORTÉ CELEBRATES THIRD ANNIVERSARY AS KANSAS CITY'S TOP COP!!! TKC ASKS READERS TO RATE POLICE PROGRESS!!!

Today we mark an important milestone that has consequences for every resident of Kansas City.

To wit . . .

KCPD CHIEF FORTÉ CELEBRATES THREE YEARS AS KANSAS CITY'S TOP COP AND OFFERS AN IMPORTANT PERSPECTIVE ON HIS TENURE!!!

Read the Chief in his own words . . .

KCPD CHIEF'S BLOG: Reflecting on my third anniversary as Chief of Police

Here's the most important quote about crime and homicide numbers during his tenure.

"What I am most encouraged about during my tenure as chief is the reduction in the number of homicides in Kansas City. The reduction in the number of homicides committed this year is unparalleled during the past five decades. The credit for the reduction is only in part due to the efforts of the police department. Many organizations, programs and individuals are contributing to making our city safer than it has been for decades. Oftentimes when I respond to homicide scenes, I observe witnesses openly sharing information with detectives. Many are willing to respond to Police Headquarters to provide formal statements."

That's nice but that doesn't tell the whole story . . .

OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY HAS IDENTIFIED THE CRITICAL MOMENTS OF THE CHIEF'S TENURE!!!

Remember when the Chief first took power there were a great many rank and file officers who doubted his ability and constantly questioned his judgements.

Quite a few early retirements and high ranking police forced out didn't stop frustration.

There was a lot of cheap talk from the community that a Black Chief of Police (1st one, in fact) would make a difference fighting violence and homicide in the community . . . It didn't. The first two years of his tenure were even more violent than his predecessor.

But then . . . KC's top cop caught a break and earned an opportunity to stand up for his Dept . . .

THE KCPD CHIEF ONLY STARTED TO EARN TRACTION WITH HIS COLLEAGUES WHEN HE STOOD UP AGAINST MAYOR SLY'S FAILED KCPD LOCAL CONTROL EFFORT!!!

Putting the kibosh on local control was a turning point for the KCPD Chief and FINALLY won him the respect and more support among the rank & file.

For good measure, during this time the Chief started to cozy up to Congressman Cleaver as if to send a message to Mayor Sly that he wasn't the only game in town . . . This politically astute move surprised everybody and finally encourage the Mayor to back off.

Another gift from the 3rd District . . .

SMACKING DOWN AND TOTALLY EMBARRASSING COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REED OVER PLAZA VIOLENT TEEN FLASH MOB RACIAL PROFILING ARREST ACCUSATIONS IS THE GREATEST POLITICAL ACCOMPLISHMENT OF KCPD CHIEF FORTÉ SO FAR!!!

The Chief called Council Dude Reed's comments "dangerous" and questioned the Councilman's knowledge of the facts to his face and in a room full of elected officials.

At that moment, the Chief FINALLY earned the support from old school white cops that he desperately needed. Clearly the Chief was focused on protecting his officers from political assaults and willing to step up to challenge accusations of racism.

To a lesser extent, the Chief's tweets from The Plaza have proven successful and all things considered the Dept. does seem more media savvy and open to public discourse . . . But Chief Corwin really pioneered that strategy . . . Credit to the current Chief . . . He stepped up the social media training of the KCPD and now the Dept. is savvy enough to earn International mention during Royals post-season baseball.

This is the run-down of the highlights for Chief Forté . . .

NOTICE THAT IT'S NEITHER RACE NOR POLITICS THAT HAVE MADE THE CHIEF SUCCESSFUL DURING HIS TENURE, INSTEAD THE GREATEST VICTORY FOR THE KCPD TOP COP STEMS FROM SUPPORT OF HIS DEPARTMENT!!!

And so . . .

THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY MUST DECIDE HOW TO RATE THE PROGRESS OF THE KCPD CHIEF UPON HIS 3RD YEAR IN POWER!!!

Consider this post, some of the stories we've noted and please offer more perspective . . . You decide . . .

  1. Would like to see more data on homicide numbers but you can't argue with success. If anybody should get credit for lower homicides, it's the police and not politicians.

  2. The numbers aren't really lower, it's just how they are classifying them now. In other words, just juggle the books, to make them look like you want.

  3. Standing up to the shithead mayor showed a lot of character. But what are his views on unsolicited bulk email?

He still suffers from a bad case of Todd Haley disease or is he just not smart enough to figure out how to use a razor.

  5. The TKC Blog Community and it's denizens should decide all public issues via secret polls without identification of source.

And people complain here about local government.

Geeze, do we listen to ourselves?

  6. His mandatory retirement age is going to be a problem......

  10. After discussing his tenure, Chief Forte then jumped on a table and shouted:

"Fuck her right in the pussy!!"

  13. Citizen: Calls 911

911 Operator: Hello, this is 911. What is the nature of your emergency?

Citizen: Yes, I want to report a crime!

911 Operator: Is this happening right now? Are you in danger?

Citizen: This happened just a few minutes ago when I read Chief Forte's letter! I'm not in immediate danger, but I do fear for my safety.

911 Operator: Can you tell me what happened?

Citizen: Well, I'll give you the highlights.
Chief Forte claimed..."The reduction in the number of homicides committed this year is unparalleled during the past five decades." Operator, I think he's crazy!

Then he says, "What I am currently most concerned about is the police department’s inability to attract and retain qualified minority police officers." Operator, Good Lord!....this is what the Chief of Police is most concerned about? It sounds discriminatory and borderline racist to me!

911 Operator: I understand your concern sir, and will certainly pass this information on to the state Attorney General's office.

    Citizen: Thank you and Godspeed!

  16. Besides the smackdown of Jermaine Reed, he's done little but cheerlead and manipulate data. The guy didn't deserve the job and if it were not for his willingness to be and do corrupt acts, there'd be no chief forte.

  17. 10:23... No, I am not. All Forte has accomplished is to push the thugs and murderers from their own neighborhoods, to those of the tax paying and law abiding citizens. I never believed I would ever see the day when five people in one day were killed anywhere near my home, but it happened. And I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen a patrol car in my neighborhood in the last several months. Know why? Because the commander at South Patrol has made it very clear to his troops that he is less concerned about crime prevention than he is about them stopping cars and writing tickets. Don't believe me? The next time you see an officer in South Patrol ask them about the nightly quota still in effect.

    1. Take a look at the commander and file a complaint with OCC.

  21. This police force has a bunch of Service men who served in Iraq and they think they are still there. We hired them but they treat us like shit. Wtf

  22. Until the police have a visible presence in high crime neigborhoods the criminals will continue to win. I don't see people running from the burbs to move back into the freaking mess so eventually I guess we just hand it over to the thugs.
