This summer the Kansas City Police Department has been engaged in an unprecedented media campaign aimed at garnering positive public perception.
The focus on media image is important given backlash against police caused by media reports like Pitch cover story presenting the plaintiff case against a KCPD officer seemingly timed to coincide with a lawsuit this week.
To build up goodwill among the local populace we've noticed more than a few standout stories with a positive spin amid a summer season that's usually dominated by shooting, checkpoint and crackdown headlines.
The KCPD media campaign started with fun and games: Kansas City Police block off street to play basketball
Then there was a focus on charity: Officer steps in to help 96-year-old woman in stifling hot house
There was also a "Super Trooper" style joke: Police Officer Gets Pranked By Colleagues, With A Little Help From 4,000 Post-It Notes
Now . . .
FIRST ON TKC . . . CHECK OUT THIS EXTENDED KCPD RECRUITING CLIP JUST RELEASED A FEW HOURS AGO!!!
They call it: "Be A Hero At KCPD"
Quick edits, a hard rock sound track, images of the po-po with guns drawn should entice locals looking for an exciting line of work.
TELL US HOW YOU RATE THIS KCPD RECRUITING CLIP!!!
The reality is that KCPD must have an active media presence to focus their message. BUT, by that same token, it's important for the public to understand the difference betwixt "news" and a calculated media campaign . . . Even if the there are so many blurred lines in the current Internets era.
Developing . . .
Not bad, hard to dance to.

ReplyDeleteTrack down and shoot a unarmed fireman and then claim self defense.
Idiot...
DeleteQuit saying fireman. That loser gave firemen a bad name. He was a thug!!!
DeleteThe whole KCMO city operation is little more than a giant overinflated PR balloon.
ReplyDeleteWhy leave the police out?
Be an asshole to people for no reason! Shoot and beat "suspects"! Enhance your little man syndrome! Join the KCPD!
ReplyDeleteGet the bones in your face shattered by roid raging fireman, then get sued for defending yourself.
ReplyDeleteFucking cop deserved to get his ass beat. Escalated the incident, man was assaulted by the cop, he defended himself. Cop murdered him. Cop is lucky. Very lucky he's isn't in jail
DeleteMe drag hose...me no thinky...me hear buddies say bad guy is good guy...me get angry...then me go make lasagna...yummy
DeleteGreat video! Kudos to the officers who made it. The fire department needs to make one of them cooking, watching TV and taking naps while they're getting paid. Of course the music will need to be turned down so we don't wake them.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the part of them standing around at quiktrip stealing coffee and hitting on girls half their age?
DeleteProbably next to the one of all the firemen trying to fuck the soccer moms in the produce aisle at HyVee.
DeleteShould have shown them beating up and shooting niggers.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best part of the fucking job.
if they want to be seen and been seen as "hip/cool"
ReplyDeleteWhy post a youtube that can't been seen on mobile devices?
If they want to be outdated they could just start another blog
If you're so hip and cool why don't you know that YouTube does not allow you to watch a video on a mobile device that has copyright music on it.
DeleteWill they arrest Dale Carter for wanking off while he tries to entice his way into women's beds from Facebook -- "my wife rarely wants sex and she does it she is really boring so how about it?" "MMMMMMMMM ahhhhhh, wow gotta clean up"
ReplyDeleteThe previous comment was brought to us by the Action Squad of the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus. The traps are set suckers!
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that the police are the Orkin men protecting us humans from the Hoodisrattis Urbanis Feralis who carry the Ebonic Plague.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing about being a cop 9:19am, if someone resists you, you have the legal authority to subdue them. If they assault you, you have the legal authority to kill them. The only thing the cop did wrong is he forgot the "one to the head" part.
ReplyDeleteNothing would garner better relation than cleaning up KCPD from top to bottom. I don't see any plan aimed at doing that.
ReplyDeleteJust the type of propaganda to attract the very people who should not be in KCPD uniform. Lovely. KC = Detroit
ReplyDeleteKaren Dillon's article is a hit piece on the cops. While some police protocols may have been violated, it doesn't excuse the fact that Bruno had committed a crime by hitting the cab driver.
ReplyDeleteThen he resists arrests and beats the officer. It's easy to blame the cop that shot him, but let's put the blame where it belongs, on Bruno
And let me even put this on those who videotaped it on their cell phones. The cop is struggling trying to arrest someone and some dumbass asks what did he do??? Seriously, the cop is trying to handcuff someone and you want to interfere by asking a question.....No where did anyone use their cell phone to call 9-1-1 to report the police officer needed assistance.....what does that say about the bystanders
5:12 sounds like the cop was the one on roids.
ReplyDeleteCall my wife a cunt and I will beat your fucking ass and 5 KCMO cops won't save you from the "fists of fury".
No, bottom line is this fucking cop broke all kinds of KCMO PD protocol, went off reservation and chased the fire dude off property.
Fuck a sand nigger calling a white woman a cunt. I would have busted his face up, broke a few ribs and then burned his fucking cab. Fuck that sand nigger fuck.
Someone should post his fucking name and see how long he makes a living around here.
Me wanna-be-soldier, me have no balls to go fight overseas where people shoot back, me stick to shooting and beating up unarmed american citizens.
ReplyDeleteAbout 1/3 of the cops at KC are active duty or former military. Including the officer involved in the incident with the firefighter. Are you a fire fighter or a high school drop out who had NO CHOICE but to join the military? Your English is atrocious!!
DeleteThe post it prank was in KC, KANSAS, not Missouri.
ReplyDelete6:55 is a patrol boy at Hickman Mills. He has a direct line to ALL the important inside information.
ReplyDeleteSit around the CAN center. Eat burritos. Protect the illegal day workers. Hire them to work for you (and don't pay work taxes) and even have some live in you rental units. It's a pretty good scam. I don't know if you would be a hero, but it's a good scam.
