Kansas City newsprint is in trouble and there's nothing that will save outdated technology.
Don't believe TKC? Realize that only adorable nerd hobbyists still collect vinyl records and they're not really buying new music. Just in the past few years the music game has switched from MP3s to Internets streaming services. And the Pitch hasn't exceeded more than 50 editorial pages in more than 2 years.
But I digress . . .
This one is a MUST READ from The Pitch, which is still our favorite paper despite it all . . .
CHECK THE PITCH HIT PIECE IN THE AFTERMATH OF A DEADLY KCPD VS. KCFD ALTERCATION!!!
Here's the headline that really should reveal the narrative of the story . . .
Cop Donald Hubbard said he had no choice when he shot and killed firefighter Anthony Bruno last fall. That's because he'd already made some bad decisions
We've talked this one to death and what should concern our TKC Blog Community is that this isn't the only controversial police shooting for 2014 . . . There are several other cases that might require further investigation. . . But they're all east of Troost or in the deep, deep Northeast.
This one has attracted newsie attention . . . And it's not the honeymoon angle that's makes the story unique.
Still, there's no arguing this stuff is captivating.
As for the choice of image . . . Another look at the story could result in this photo being used instead as a representation of the deadly altercation.
You decide . . .
"I got you, you little bitch," Hubbard (the cop) says. - haha ckpd 'city of killa police department'
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't have a dog in this fight, after reading the "experts" comments regarding this incident, it appears there is the typical police cover-up of one of their own.
ReplyDeleteWhile Mr. Bruno may well have been a total asshole, his actions that night would not be much different from any of us, given the circumstances.
The "enhanced video/audio" that the public has yet to see/hear appears to tell a totally different story than what Officer Hubbard told his brothers in blue. Not surprising.
Hubbard breaks half a dozen standard procedures, then being a total redneck, starts the cop bad ass act. Everything is fine as long as Hubbard is kicking the shit out of Bruno. When Bruno gets tired of being a punching bag, clocks Hubbard and defends himself from a serious ass kicking, Hubbard does what most cops love to do, pull his gun and shoot a un-armed man to death, then lie his ass off about it. Internal Affairs, lol, then finds Hubbard "justified". Grand Jury no-blls Hubbard...which is not uncommon as the DA presents information for a grand jury to make a determination and basically tells them what to do. One would seriously doubt that the Grand Jury saw the "enhanced audio/video" the expert viewed.
While I would be the last in KC to defend a Fireman, as I normally rail on their arrogant behavior. In this case a normal person, after seeing and listening to the video/audio, has to believe the cop broke a bunch of procedures, and basically went rogue and chased Bruno down and killed him.
To those who just spew bullshit for the sake of spewing bullshit, ie, cops and fireman talking smack on each other...lay out of this one.
I don't have a side. Just looking at the information available and the audio/video tape that many have NOT seen !
This needs a unbiased investigation. Not a cover-up by the likes of the KCPD, which is exactly what looks like happened.
"Does this mean 'fuck you'?" Gordon (homicide detective) asked (Bruno's wife).
ReplyDeletePolice Chief Forté called Stephanie before the funeral to offer her his condolences. He asked if he could attend the funeral. She told him yes. But he didn't show up, and he never called again. - what a prick
ReplyDeletewhat happened to honest cops?
ReplyDeleteOne expects the cops to cover up for one of their own.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the DA ? Why the hell did the DA not present the enhanced video and audio from the retired FBI guy ?
Sure smells like a cover up.
It's not for nothing that this town has long been called Killer City.
ReplyDeletedrunken roid head smashes bones in cops face after hitting cab driver. cop fires in self defense. job well done.

ReplyDelete8:12 sounds like one of the dipshits that 7:28 referred to.
ReplyDeleteSounds like one of the blue belly's that likes to play bad ass.

ReplyDeleteOnce again, two wrongs make a right.

ReplyDeletefinally a GOOD fireman
ReplyDeleteThis is a "who cares" sort of scenario... bully cop kills fireman, jackass fireman kills cop, does it really matter to anyone other than the few family members directly affected, both departments have become the home of those who cant get along anywhere else.
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha!!! roid firman doin de TRAYVON!!!!hahahahahaha!!!!
ReplyDeletesooo thaaats why tony doesn't leave the basement ... lying cops could make up a doozy to get him off city hall's back. :P
ReplyDeleteI remember the days when you could score a good piece of ass off the classified ads in the Pitch.

ReplyDelete1) Ban police officers working for private employers from wearing a police uniform.
2)Ban police officers working for private employers from using any tax payer purchased equipment, including guns.
3) Require off duty police to have a security guard permit just like any other security guard in the city.
4) Require off duty officers to have insurance as required of security guards and stop milking of the tax payers
5) Make it a point of police department policy that an off duty privately employed officer may only act under his police authority, off or on the employer's premises, if there is a reasonable threat of death or grievous bodily harm. Some drunk arguing over cab fare would not qualify. Some petty misdemeanour would not qualify
The idea that anyone could work for a hotel and suddenly transform themselves into a law enforcement authority is, at the least, a gross conflict of interest.
These private companies hire these off duty officers because it gives them an advantage they should not be entitled too. While the tax payers are sitting ducks, it places the city at risk for litigation and other vulnerabilities that should be affixed directly to the employer - not the city. No company should gain a strategic advantage because they are stuffing the pockets of someone with instant police authority.
Yep drunken roid head and always was.
ReplyDeleteDemocrat greedy weasel trial lawyers swooping in on this now --
ReplyDeletescam more money from a KC employer in lawsuit on behalf of drunken firefighter union slob.
"Don't believe TKC?"
ReplyDeletethe pitch went out and talked to the particulars involved while you made a bunch of wild suppositions that now don't line up with the facts presented
so, no
Internet "lawyers" and "experts" on police procedures at it again. Yawn
ReplyDeleteI like this quote from an ex TKC reader. "If I had to point blame it would have to be about a 50/50 charge of blame. Even Stephanie Bruno is to be blamed for a small part of the incident."
ReplyDeleteIf you piss off the good natured junkyard dog he is going to bite someone. Bruno set the pace for this disasters chain of events. Mrs. Bruno didn't help the matter any either. Maybe the cabby did utter the right word about her. The trailer court trash had a fight and someone died that's what happens when the riff raff goes at it.
That was dumb sounds like a comment from STUPID DAVE.
ReplyDeleteHey, 12:06 , I'll bet your picture is next to the word "moron" in the dictionary...You certainly sound like one here.
ReplyDeleteI miss how Tony use to choke me until I almost passed out then face fuck me until I gagged and threw up on his cock, then he would cum all over my face. I miss you baby!
ReplyDeletefucking shame that they're trying this case in the media, that is not the smart way to do things.
ReplyDeleteTony, a hitpiece has the connotation of a story of questionable objectivity, written to make the target look bad.
ReplyDeleteAre you saying that's what The Pitch wrote?
Because you know better, or you're still angry with ThePitch?
