TKC TIPSTERS TOLD YOU FIRST!!! EMTS WINNING AGAINST KANSAS CITY AMBULANCE CONSOLIDATION AFTERMATH!!!

We talked about this on Friday afternoon thanks the AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS and now it's Kansas City News fact . . .

Judge rules in favor of EMTs in dispute with KC about overtime pay

"U.S. District Judge Beth Phillips denied the city’s motion for summary judgment and found that the employees were not exempt from overtime. Phillips also granted the plaintiffs’ motion for partial summary judgment on liability, which means the issue left to be resolved now is how much the city owes the plaintiffs in damages."

Translation . . .

KANSAS CITY IS GOING TO HAVE TO PAY BIG TIME FOR THIS TRAGIC ERROR THAT'S STILL IMPACTING THIS TOWN!!!

Developing . . .

It will be interesting to see what the coucil and mayor do. It was the end of the previous administration that mergered the two entities. And a new fire chief. So its not really anyone's political baby.

It is a big baby though. A food baby.

The city's attorneys for HR suck. When was last time they won a major case

Lay the blame for this where ever you want. The bottom line is that it never made sense for the taxpayers and citizens of KC. The only ones who benefited from this move were the union thugs of Local 42. For years the stats have shown that the numbers of actual fires they respond to have been going down each year. They had to find a way to justify their exceedingly high pay raises. So, what did they do? They politiced long and hard to take over a private company so they could pad their stats with ambulance calls in the absence of actual fire calls. The move also had the added benefit of beefing up the numbers of employees of the fire department, thus increasing their union membership, and giving them a larger segment of potential voters with which they could continue to demand ever increasing wages. Sweet deal...for the union thugs.

Having firefighters manage an abulance service was foolhearty from the outset. Would it make sense to have the EMTs manage the police department? No, it would not, because they don't know anything about police work. Would it make sense to have the cops manage the fire department? No, because cops don't know anything about how to attack a fire. The same logic applies to firefighters attempting to manage an ambulance service. It has been a disaster from the outset, response times have gone through the roof, costs are up, and it is costing the taxpayers more and more money. What makes it all so much worse is that it is obvious to even the casual observers that the management of KCFD doesn't have a clue about how to fix it. This whole thing has been a disaster, and the leadership of the city needs to take steps to correct it.

Real leaders take action steps to correct the problems they've identified. The Mayor, City Council, and City Manager should step up and admit this takeover has been a mistake, then announce the steps they plan to take to correct the problem, and do what is best for the taxpayers. They should start by announcing a bid to privatize the ambulance service as a whole.

You're a retard! This didn't have anything to do with that Union. It was the city trying to take advantage of its employees.

Actually this occurred during funks admin

How can anyone on the council sit there and pretend they didn't fully support the takeover of MAST? They voted for this. The city council is responsible because four years ago, they ignored the concerns of the medical community, ignored concerns of the employees, and ignored all the facts.

It's not beyond repair, but it means the city needs to have competent leadership for ems, and most of all give the department the resources it needs to provide an proper level of response. Broken down trucks, decrepit stations and facilities, and a failure to let line level people take meaningful part in decision making is not helping.

Make no mistake, it was this administration that caused this. Specifically, that POS Troy Schulte.

How long will it take KCMO residents and taxpayers to figure out that the people they elect don't care about them or the city services they pay for?
They've consistently ignored and neglected even the most basic of issues as public safety, water services, and infrastructure for as long as anyone can remember and the quality, efffectiveness, and results of city departments have actually continued to decrease during the current administration.
What's important at 12th and Oak are the contractors, consultants, insiders, salesmen, engineering firms, grifters, attorneys, and all the rest who make their livings from one level of government or another.
It's just that KCMO is such an easy touch.
This isn't going to be fixed any more than the water department or the condition the streets are in. It's just too much work and no where near as much fun as going to lunches, meetings, and ribbon-cuttings and flying around the country telling other government folks what a great job you're doing.
That's the status quo in KCMO and there's no one in sight who has the slightest interest in changing it.

748 you are nothing but a pissed off mast employee. Sure fire calls are down not a secret. Is that a bad thing. The fire department took over mast but to my knowledge there is alot of former mast employees wearing chief shirts. You cant blame all what has happened on the fire side. Most the higher ups are still around and if you feel you have some better ideas of how things are done go talk to some of your chiefs im sure they will listen. Not saying they will change anything but if you dont start somewhere then your just a whiner.
As for padding kcfd stats i have to call bs. Mast was subsidized by the city aka the tax payers. Why should we the tax payers continue subsidizing something the city can run itself. You can say the transition wasnt smooth or easy i can agree with that. The bottom line here is kcfd as much as you hate to look at it is here to serve the citizens.
You talk of pay raises etc. I must of missed those. As we havent had any in a few years till 2014. Kcfd ambulance people have put on this site they have taken pay cuts. I dont think your take home pay decreased your hours may have increased but that was due to shifts of 24 hours. As of what the courts ruled you are going to get your overtime pay which i think is fair as you are not bound by the federal law about ff schedules.
I have a good question for all former mast employees. How much money could you sock away honestly in your old 401k. Think of what your making now and when you retire how many years it would take you to go through that. You all got a good deal got to keep your 401ks got put in a pension that will pay you a salary after your service to the city.
All in all i have nothing bad to say about 99 percent of the kcfd members. I think there a some people on ambulances that arent happy about what has occured. Likewise some on fire trucks arent happy. The common goal here is we are doing what we do to serve the people. Your not going to retire a multi millionare i dont think most do what we do with that expectation.
Last of all it may not be the best situation but your still doing the same job as before. If you got ideas to better the system put them in front of somebody. I know it may not change but if you dont put it out there i will say this there is no chance it will occur.

Winner of the year

11:42 Hey dumbfuck, how about you name the other 110 people that also got their FU to the fire department? Do you want them to go away also? I doubt it. Because then you would be laid off.

Again the city fathers incompetence costs the tax payers. As punishment the numb nuts of KC plan on reelecting the ass holes

Marissa Hermsen or her mson, whatever., you are a cunt!

Based on the negative reaction and responses of several firefighters, I have to guess that 7:42 AM must have come pretty close to the mark. Otherwise the firefighters wouldn't be so upset and defensive about having been called out. As the saying goes, there has to be a fire to produce that much smoke!

Another lawsuit in which the city manager is involved in which ends up costing the city big bucks.
