  2. MAST is a Troy Schulte turd. Why this council keeps him just baffles me. SMH

  4. Didn't the Marissa chick who started all this get fired recently for workplace violence against her fellow Emts?

    1. Yes, and it wasn't her first time. Cray cray! Was a total liability to the city. Good riddance!

    2. When did the HOTTIE get fired?

  5. Seems to me she got fired for starting it.

  6. Yeah, let's go ahead and ignore the fact that fire management has been stealing from its employees for four years now. It's better to distract everyone by talking about the plaintiff in this case.

  7. The fact is, the fire department is so poorly run, that it is a walking liability.

  8. Seems like the greatest liability to this city is this fucktard fire chief and city manager who allowed this to happen!! How about we take the millions this will cost the city and outsource their jobs to someone who wouldn't have tried to illegally scam the employees?

  9. Hey 9:06: newsflash! It wasn't Berardi who made this decision, it was Smokey Dyer, Louie Wright, Troy Schulte, Jan Marcason and Cindy Circo. Those are the ones to blame! They didn't give a shit about abusing the poor, overworked, kicked around EMT workers. They just wanted to destroy a perfectly fine Company with a record of excellence in patient care!

    1. Troy Schulte was not the city manager when this started and Sly was not the mayor. Get your facts straight. Berardi was in the loop, just like everyone else.

  10. The CITY is so poorly run, that it is a walking liability! This is Schulte's fault and he deserves to be fired for costing KCMO millions in damages! The Council better do something about him! Either that or they are the ones to blame.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, if the city manager is this unethical imagine what else he's getting away with?? What else is he going to get the city sued for?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh really?? Has Berardi changed these illegal practices in the past 2 1/2 years he's been in charge? He was in on it when Smokey made the decision. The only reason he got the job was to be Schulte's bitch puppet anyway. They both ought to be fired!

  13. Let's not forget about the beating over the 'pension' that was promised...among other things...Sometimes it feels as if we are members of the Center Party during the negotiations of the Enabling Act...

    ReplyDelete
  14. You're kidding, right? Schulte has been manager since 2009. MAST came over in 2010. This was not Sly's fault, but rather Funky, who cow towed to the KCFD, Louie, and every other shit bag who had money and or power. Let's hope the mayor and city council can fix this properly.

  15. The reality is: all you former MAST employees have looked a gift horse in the mouth. All of you have enjoyed pay raises and benefits beyond what MAST ever offered. (Not to mention that you got service time retirement credit with the city, which you never earned, and kept your 401K on top of that. And many of you have cashed that in and actually retired better off than you ever could have been with MAST.) KCFD and L42 rescued you from a tyrannical employer, yet your too stupid to recognize that.

...so throw all the stones you want. I say, "so long, and good riddance" to all you whinning idiots--you'll soon be AMR's problem and KCFD will be better off.

    1. Without EMS, and the high number of calls it takes care of how many more stations will be closed and personal of FF be laid off

  16. Without the ambulance, kcfd is a corpse. Don't forget where 80% of your runs come from 1058.

  17. Thank God the HERO's of KCFD Saved the poor damsels in distress (Mast Employee's) Did you ever work for MAST most likely not but like the rest of the chiefs and managemnet by God you can do it better because your a FIRE FIGHTER. I am doing my best to bow at your feet while I type this to please for give me. Just like most of the you are uninformed street thug that when youd don't get your way you threaten the city with "Well we will just let you house burn down then you will see." I get so tired of being treated like a second class citizen when we work twice as hard as you guys down. How about a little respect. As for the raise I took a pay cut for the 500 extra hours i work per for free. All for this department that continues to treat EMS like Crap!!!!

  18. 10:58- it Doesn't change the fact that the "reality" is that fire management and the former president of L42 intentionally stole from their employees and constituents. So, you're essentially saying that just because I gave you 50 bucks, that entitles me to steal from you, right?

  19. Most of the EMS guys and gals do a great job at what they do. So do most firemen. I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to work on an ambulance or in fire suppression. Calling people names isn't really necessary is it? I mean we all do the dirty work in one way or another. As far as Firemen being thugs I have to disagree...most are great guys and gals...not thugs. The city has always tried to give KCFD the shaft....long before the takeover of MAST. It all boils down to what is more important to them...public safety? or toy trains and fancy airports that they can leave as their legacy in office. God bless all you crazy peeps out there doing what you do every day.

    1. This doesn't have anything to do with streetcars and everyone knows it. You guys are really shitting where you eat with that line of bullshit.

Streetcars and fire or ambulance departments are unrelated.

Lots of people are starting to notice all the anti streetcar chirping from the FD. Might want to remember how small a group if people the TKC bitch-fest is. There aren't 315 voters who read this board and the anti streetcar facebook circle jerk combined.

  20. 10:58, you are part of an antiquated paradigm of what KCFD management continues to be. Welcome to the 21st century.

  21. I think some of you forget what this has been about. REGARDLESS of what a person has said or done doesn't matter! KCFD needs to pay those who were not fire suppression the hours worked over 40! Obviously a judge thought so too! DOMINIQUE

  23. All of those wanting to bash MAST employees and "the Marissa chick" who started the lawsuit, really need to get your facts straight before running your mouths. Nobody that was at MAST prior to the take over has gotten better pay, raises, etc...if anything, we have lost out on pay, raises, and being able to say we work for a nationwide respectable ambulance service. We JUST got our first raises last April after 3 without. We take a payCUT to go to a 24 hr station car, and no longer receive a cost of living raise. Had we never gone city, we would have had 8 raises since KCFD took over MAST...instead of the ONE we have gotten. And Marissa didnt so this for HER, she did it for all of the seemingly ungrateful people who were getting royally screwed by the city....and obviously she was right bc a judge ruled in her favor. She wasnt a violent employee. She stood up for what was right....and obviously those who have nasty things to say, don't know the difference between right and wrong and would rather continue to let the city screw them any which way they can.

  24. Lay the blame for this where ever you want. The bottom line is that it never made sense for the taxpayers and citizens of KC. The only ones who benefited from this move were the union thugs of Local 42. For years the stats have shown that the numbers of actual fires they respond to have been going down each year. They had to find a way to justify their exceedingly high pay raises. So, what did they do? They politiced long and hard to take over a private company so they could pad their stats with ambulance calls in the absence of actual fire calls. The move also had the added benefit of beefing up the numbers of employees of the fire department, thus increasing their union membership, and giving them a larger segment of potential voters with which they could continue to demand ever increasing wages. Sweet deal...for the union thugs.

Have firefighters manage an abulance service was foolhearty from the outset. Would it make sense to have the EMTs manage the police department? No, it would not, because they don't know shit about police work. Would it make sense to have the cops manage the fire department? No, because cops don't know shit about how to attack a fire. The same logic applies to firefighters attempting to manage an ambulance service. It has been a disaster from the outset, response times have gone through the roof, costs are up, and it is costing the taxpayers more and more money. What makes it all so much worse is that it is obvious to even the casual observers that the management of KCFD doesn't have a clue about how to fix it. This whole thing has been a disaster, and the leadership of the city needs to take steps to correct it.

Real leaders take action steps to correct the problems they've identified. The Mayor, City Council, and City Manager should step up and admit this takeover has been a mistake, then announce the steps they plan to take to correct the problem, and do what is best for the taxpayers. They should start by announcing a bid to privatize the ambulance service as a whole.

  25. That last paragraph of your comment 7:42 is the most intelligent thing I've ever seen anyone post on here about this subject.

  26. If you want to see a shitty EMS agency go ahead and privatize! The best course of action is to make the EMS service a separate city department that reports to a Chief who actually has some EMS experience
