CHECK THE ONGOING PROTEST IN FRONT OF THE KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN MARRIOTT OVER A CONTROVERSIAL YELLOW CAB EXCLUSIVE DEAL!!!
Remember that our KICK-ASS BLOG COMMUNITY laid out the deets of this controversial deal earlier this year but it seems that protestors are committed to getting their message out there . . .
This is the second week of these Downtown protests and just from the activity we noticed . . . The frustrated Kansas City cabbies are making an impact. We noticed the blonde hottie was excpetionally panicked @ the recent early morning display . . .
We talked to a few of the drivers and they plan to keep up their complaints "no matter how long it takes" . . . And we noticed more than a few honks of support from locals passing by . . .
To be fair, KC Transportation Group honcho Bill George reminds us that "Private business can choose companies they do business with. Just like a hotel selects a produce vendor, linen company, etc."
Meanwhile, Kansas City anti-trust complaints continue amid an increasingly divisive local transit scene.

KC is home to insider deals. But does it lower prices and serve the consumer better? That is the real question TKC!
ReplyDeletePrivate business can make any deals it choses but the drivers are also free to protest. If I owned the hotel and didn't make the original decision I would also look at how the decision was arrived at.

The "monopoly" or as we in the real world call it, agreement between 2 businesses, is most likely a sound decision for the Hotel. I'm here to help.Try to keep up...
ReplyDeleteYou have a single taxi company serving customers of the hotel. Your cab driver cusses you out in Somali? The backseat had what appears to be a lab experiment cooking into the fabric? The driver took you 6 miles on a 3 mile trip? Customer complains to concierge ,who in turn calls cab company and chews their ass. Offending cabbie no longer picks up fairs there.
The other scenario, anyone with the cash for a license and a 10 year old crown vic, provides shit service, fucks customers out of money, cusses them out in Somali, nothing can be done. Hotel ends up looking sub par. At the end of the day, company A can do business with any or all of the letters in the alphabet, or only one. This isn't China....yet.

ReplyDeleteI've always heard "spend your money locally, keep Kansas City's money flowing here". Then I see the city allowing a company like Yellow Cab to put our own local cab businesses down like this? This is quite disappointing and our City Counsel and leaders need to care more about the residents rather than their own pocket books.
