KANSAS CITY PO'FOLK FIGHT FOR THEIR PUBLIC HOUSING SMOKING RIGHTS!!!

Recently, we noted a crackdown on po'folks and cancer stix in Kansas City projects.

Now . . .

CHECK RAGE AMONG BROKE-ASS KANSAS CITY DENIZENS OF PUBLIC HOUSING WHO FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHT TO SMOKE!!!

Here's the story: Residents upset about public housing smoking ban

Money quote:

"About 45 percent of residents in HAKC properties are smokers with a large percentage of respiratory issues including asthma. This smoking ban would affect about 1,700 households and it’s not sitting well with many of those residents.

"I don't think it's realistic, I don't think it's going to work. How are you going to make people stop smoking in their homes?” said a longtime smoker and resident of Brush Creek Apartments."

Surprisingly, out bloggy community doesn't support the rights of smokers in public housing but not really out of a concerns for their well-being and good health.

  2. To the unnamed resident at Brush Creek: Here's how it works.

I have a job. I pay taxes. My taxes give you a place to live. You are living there on MY dime, which means I have some say in how you live your life. If you don't like it, get off your ass, stop pumping out another baby every year, and get a job yourself. Then, you can get your own place and smoke to your heart's content. With luck, you'll die of a heart attack or stroke at age 45, and you'll spare us the trouble of having to support you for the next 40 years.

    Happy Saturday.

    Fuck 'em.

I am got-dammed tired of paying for layabouts on the dole, puffing away on cigs I pay for, in housing I pay for, and slopping down food I pay for, making BASTARD future gang-banger shitheads while they fuck like rabbits - while the rest of us bust our asses to support this vermin.

Oh, and their FUCKING FREE Obamaphones that I pay for too!

  4. You guys are looking at this wrong. Let them smoke all they want. Smokers die younger. That gets them off the dole faster, saving everybody money.

Extremely well put. For those who think the right wing is wearing tin foil hats, this perfectly illustrates the principle. As we let ourselves become totally dependent on government for services(such as heath care), we fall under the control of the guy with the dime. Both parties are guilty of this. Each claims the morale high ground; your health or your soul. Big brother is really looking out for you.

  13. Damn these people are going to have to move to the casino to smoke. Isn't it funny how easy a government can be bought?

  14. I agree. They should not be allowed to smoke on the premises. The arrangement was for suitable housing; not colorful lifestyles. Which brings up the next question... if you have money to buy cigarettes, do you really need money for housing. Considering the cost of cigs are now at $5-6/pack, that smoking seems like a luxury anyway at this point. Poor people should be spending their money of education and saving to get off of public assistance.

  15. They are going to burn the place down falling asleep with a smoke in their hand. They are too dumb to get a job, too dumb to smoke safely.

  16. That was a really dumb comment.

  17. Live off the government and you give up your rights. no guns, no smokes, eventually no freedom of speech, right to protest, etc. This should be a promotional ad for the GOP

  18. So simple.

If I borrow my neighbor's lawn mower, I then have a moral obligation to treat it with utmost care. I mean, he's letting me borrow it, he worked hard for it. It's not mine. So you better believe that out of respect for him, I'm going the baby that lawn mower, return it full of gas, and clean.

Same thing applies here. If you're living in subsidized or free housing at the expense of the taxpayer, you have a basic obligation to exercise some care not to damage said housing. Smoking damages the property, plain and simple. So you go somewhere else if you want to smoke. It's a respect thing.

In return, you get respect in that free house as long as you aren't damaging it. Do whatever you want in there as long as the property is not damaged and you aren't hurting anyone.
