  1. Goddamn you fuckers are so fucking thick!

No skills, no job! This from Chili's.

"Tabletop computer screens that take menu orders, accept payments by credit card and let diners play videogames are about to get much more common, changing how waiters and restaurant guests interact.

Chili’s Grill & Bar, one of the largest casual-dining chains in the U.S., … will install tabletop screens in most of its 1,266 U.S. restaurants by early [this] year. … The screens, made by Dallas-based Ziosk LLC, are essentially tablet computers mounted to a sturdy base and loaded with pictures of menu items, as well as a credit-card swipe device and games that can be played for 99 cents at Chili’s. …

Ziosk is one of several companies pitching tabletop devices for restaurants. The devices enable diners to order and pay for their meals, and sometimes flash ads or offer entertainment to diners for a fee."

This is hot in Seattle where Chili's is looking to overcome the 15.00 an hour minimum wage in effect there.

Every fucking fast food place in the US will shitcan their workers and go to touch screens to save money and be more efficient.

I am hoping Ollie Gates does it tomorrow. Jesus what a cluster fuck that place is. The food ain't great anymore either.

A 15.00 minimum wage is the crid de cour of Democrats seeking office, when in fact, it kills jobs for entry level kids finding their way into the work force. It happens every time.

The government has now fucked up the Health care system so bad that when the Individual Mandate takes effect, that in combination with other variables has a decent cahnce to sink our ass for another 5 fucking years. Government interferance in a free market system to such a dramatic extent, is ALWAYS a disaster for the middle class. The poor still get their bennies, the rich don't fuckin care, but folks working, actually working in the private sector get fucked.

The minimum wage effort is suicide for the very folks that think it will save them.

  2. The main circumstance anyone trying to run a business in the USSA has to deal with is ever-increasing regulation. Regarding minimum wage, adaptation will come in the form of eliminating any job that it does not make financial sense to pay minimum wage for.

Hiking the wage still higher is a win–win for Democrats. Once again they get to pose as the champions of the poor, while creating more poor, who keep them in power by voting for a living instead of working for a living

  3. Shocker: IRS estimates cheapest Obamacare plan $20k per family in 2016

    Thomas Lifson

In an official document, the Internal Revenue Service, the enforcer of Obamacare’s mandates, is estimating that the cheapest Obamacare plan (the Bronze level of coverage) will cost a family of four $20,000 per year.

The IRS's assumption that the cheapest plan for a family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan.

The examples point to families of four and families of five, both of which the IRS expects in its assumptions to pay a minimum of $20,000 per year for a bronze plan.

“The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000,” the regulation says.

Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare--after Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016.

In the new final rules published Wednesday, IRS set in law the rules for implementing the penalty Americans must pay if they fail to obey Obamacare's mandate to buy insurance.

Here is a specific example from the document:

“Example 3. Family without minimum essential coverage.

"(i) In 2016, Taxpayers H and J are married and file a joint return. H and J have three children: K, age 21, L, age 15, and M, age 10. No member of the family has minimum essential coverage for any month in 2016. H and J’s household income is $120,000. H and J’s applicable filing threshold is $24,000. The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000.

"(ii) For each month in 2016, under paragraphs (b)(2)(ii) and (b)(2)(iii) of this section, the applicable dollar amount is $2,780 (($695 x 3 adults) + (($695/2) x 2 children)). Under paragraph (b)(2)(i) of this section, the flat dollar amount is $2,085 (the lesser of $2,780 and $2,085 ($695 x 3)). Under paragraph (b)(3) of this section, the excess income amount is $2,400 (($120,000 - $24,000) x 0.025). Therefore, under paragraph (b)(1) of this section, the monthly penalty amount is $200 (the greater of $173.75 ($2,085/12) or $200 ($2,400/12)).

"(iii) The sum of the monthly penalty amounts is $2,400 ($200 x 12). The sum of the monthly national average bronze plan premiums is $20,000 ($20,000/12 x 12). Therefore, under paragraph (a) of this section, the shared responsibility payment imposed on H and J for 2016 is $2,400 (the lesser of $2,400 or $20,000).”

No wonder Obama is unilaterally and unconstitutionally suspending the individual mandate until after the 2016 elections

    WE ARE FUCKED.

  4. Ch 4 had one of those man on the street interviews in front of Mc D on prospect. The reporter described the woman as a mother of 3 or 4, I think, who has worked minimum wage fast food jobs all her life, she is now in her 40s. She said after all these years she deserves a 15 dollar minimum wage. She also claimed to have a college education, even as she began and ended each sentence with " Ya Know". If minimum wage ever reaches 15 bucks, most workers pushing it will be replaced by technology or a more educated worker. "Ya Know"

  5. There is a happy median between 7.75 and 15.00

These companies have no problem making money every year even more so in recession bc they are an inferior substitution good.

  6. Do these people realize that the union will deduct from their paycheck union dues; also FICA (social security)kicks in at higher pay rate along with federal income tax, state tax, city tax? Also, what about all of the Obamacare tax mandates?

  7. I say raise the minimum wage and as well take all the welfare for the sit at home not working bums away. If they do get that kind of money I best see much better service than I have in the past and people speaking to me in a form of English I understand.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, my union deducted dues from my paycheck for most of my working life. One percent of my gross.

That's why I got paid well. And why I had great medical, dental and vision coverage that cost me very little. And why I got a big fat severance check when I got laid off.

And it's why I am now a retiree in Kansas. My pension and SS pay me more than most people here get by working.

If I had stayed out here rather than flee to a more progressive state when I was young, I would not be retired right now. I would still be working for shit Kansas wages (and non-benefits) and probably sleeping under my car ... if I could afford one.

Those burger flippers deserve a better wage. You and I deserve a more expensive Big Mac, if it lets them live like human beings. Hey, I can afford it. You can't? Maybe you should think about why that is. The USA is a federation of smaller countries we call states. KS and MO are among the poorer and more backward ones. Got feet? Use 'em. Most of us don't have daddies who own the company. Here's a concept: Think for yourself. Then do the right thing.

  9. Quit eating fast food. It is bad for you, plus it costs much more than thinking about proper nutrition and preparing meals yourself.

  10. I pay dues to a union too. Along with the stuff mentioned above, I get five weeks of paid vacation every year plus six paid holidays. Sometimes I have to work overtime. For that I get paid time and a half. Sometimes I have to work on a holiday: double time and a half. My employer makes tons of profits. I wouldn't work for anyone who doesn't. But then I'm willing to fight for my fair share. In Mo/Kan you are brought up to believe that is communism.

Glad so many of you hate unions. That means less competition for the good jobs.

  11. Fuck unions and anyone in them.5/15/14, 12:38 PM

    Unions have given us
    Poorly educated kids.
    Inefficient Government workers.
Poorly made cars that cost more than most can afford.
Ever increasing freight costs which are passed on to consumers.
Lazy firefighters and cops with an overinflated sense of self worth.
I could go on all day. The truth is Unions are run by thugs who line their pockets, and workers who think they are somehow better than non union workers. Unions have outlived their usefulness. The only people unions benefit are themselves.

    What?
    --------

An inferior substition good is a good that people will substitute in bad times because it is cheaper, even though it is inferior.

MCD makes money in good times and bad, they should be paying their people more. Go into an In N out or 5 guys and you will notice what happens when you pay your fast food workers 12 dollars an hour- you get a superior experience.

Look, I ain't shittin on Upton Sinclair's grave or nothing, I am telling ya, that you can replace a person punching a picture of a hamburger at a counter, or flipping burgers that wants 15.00 an hour in 15 seconds.

There is no skill there. I have worked with construction guys my whole life who make pretty good cash and they are very skilled workers who command top dollar by way of that same skill.

Unions are an important and viable organization for Americans and for the most part have helped make us a better country.

Notable exceptions would be the Teacher's Union and of course, the most powerful union in history, the Baseball Union.

One last thing, they didn't bury Big Bill Haywood in the Kremlin a few feet from Lenin for nothing.

  14. chuck since you are king-'realist' around here you should be wise enough to know why touchscreens are being tested out at low end chain restaurants.

It is because a certain clientele does not tip and thus makes it difficult to operate a national chain restaurant.

  17. Not sure when the working man became the enemy, but I'm a union worker. I'm not the enemy here. Now, my neighbor who contributes to much to the world selling direct mail advertising, is always complaining how hard he works, but while I'm working 50 hours a week at my union public safety job, he leaves the house at 9 am, takes an hour lunch, and gets home at 3 every day.

Sounds like the unions are full of lazy people. Maybe I need to sell direct mail ads and make the world a better place?

  18. Maybe you should?

  19. 12:38 If unions disappeared tomorrow cars would not cost one cent less, I guarantee you that. And no, I'm not in a union. I know its been a while for most people so go to the library and check out Karl Marx. He pretty much has accurately predicted what is happening in America today. If you think we are living in a democracy you are mistaken. This is an oligarchy that is getting worse every day.

  20. Skilled jobs for $15/hr are getting harder to find. Those McDonalds workers are pissing in the wind and are going to shit out of luck when Congress passes amnesty for 15 million Mexicans who will love to take those jobs for nothing. The Chamber of Commerce wants it for cheap labor and their lapdogs the Republicans are going to give it to them and the Democrats want it for future voters.

  21. Lets see Glazer try and write a story on this since we all know he doesn't pay his people jack shit.
