TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! CHECK THE TROLLEY TRACK TOY TRAIN KANSAS CITY STREETCAR FACT CHECK!!!
There's a lot of upcoming Toy train streetcar action this week, so let's start with a quick look at the upcoming agenda.
Dead Tree Media offers this profile that's not really news . . .
Newspaper: Support and opposition both growing as streetcar court hearing nears
TKC Fact Check . . . The "support" for Brookside, Trolly Track Trail Expansion is mostly comprised paid consultants and political appointees.
And, we previewed the schedule of Brookside streetcar opposition last month.
Meanwhile, here's where things start to get really interesting . . .
TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! CHECK OUT COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON PUSHING AN UPCOMING TOY TRAIN STREETCAR RESOLUTION WITHOUT MUCH NEIGHBORHOOD SUPPORT!!!
Linked here because Dead Tree Media wants to keep voters dumb about the TOTALLY RIGGED legislative process that surrounds this debate:
Resolution #140227: Adopting the City’s preferences for the Phase II Streetcar/Light Rail Expansion Project; advancing Phase II to Advanced Conceptual Engineering (ACE) and Environmental Analysis (EA); authorizing the submission of a New/Small Starts grant application upon certain conditions; requiring continued stakeholder engagement; requiring Phase II to be implemented in keeping with the spirit and intent of the adopted Boulevard and Parkway Standards; and expressing the City Council’s continued commitment to regional transit system improvements.
And THIS is how the toy train streetcar stays winning in the face of vocal opposition and WITHOUT a public vote or input from a neighborhood residents.
Developing . . .

ReplyDeleteWe got to compete! That's all you ever hear from brainwashed 20 somethings.
ReplyDeleteStreet car at all cost! We are prepared to sacrifice police and fire protection, public works and water service to get this done-- Russ Johnson
ReplyDeleteMajority of the supporters are pretty much Pavlovian specimens.
ReplyDelete"While sewer rates will continue double-digit increases for at least seven more years, water rates will increase 10 percent this year, then taper off to 2 percent to 3 percent increases annually in 2015." (KC Star 03/24/14)
ReplyDeleteI need the street car cause I can't control my temper when I drive--- Russ Johnson , even teenage girls and puppies aren't safe.
ReplyDeleteRuss Johnson was counting on voter apathy to cram this thing up peoples arses.
ReplyDeleteHe better change his strategy.
LOL, there's a petition circulating to collect 200 signatures from Brookside and Waldo residents requesting the streetcar extension south of 51st street.
ReplyDeleteThey've only got 155 as of right now, and it's been active for over a week. Looks like Russ Johnson has decided to move forward even though they couldn't hit their goal.
Another indicator that their word is non-binding, and whatever you THINK the plan is can change just because Russ Johnson decrees it. Don't give these asshats any authority to spend money in your neighborhood, or anywhere in Kansas City for that matter.
We can do so much better for so much less.
+1
ReplyDeleteThe only way to fight this absurdity is to show how absurd it is. Promulgate the Hipster and Oldster Manifestos. And beware of crushed water bottles.
ReplyDeleteDon't be too kind and timid to Johnson and the streetcar crew.
ReplyDeleteYou'll regret it.
This is an actual conversation overheard this weekend.
ReplyDelete"I'd love the streetcar. I could take it from Brookside to River Market and do my shopping there."
"But you can already do that with the MAX."
"Oh, but I just don't like the bus."
I wonder if this person will like the streetcar once it's built.
Duiguid must have read the Manifesto. He's calling for marathons to be run in different parts of the city. Why doesn't Mission Hills have a marathon?
ReplyDeleteLegislation #: 140227 - - Thursday March 27, 2014 - - City Hall
ReplyDeleteYou walk into this room at your own risk, because it leads to the future, not a future that will be but one that might be. This is not a new world, it is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the superstates that preceded it, it has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.
Star Comments. What in the God Damn Freaking hell is this streetcar guy smoking? Or drinking? Nothing personal buddy but man get out of the house once in a while brother!!
ReplyDeleteKevin Carlyle
record level violent crime? that's a huge lie. violent crime peaked in 1992 in Kansas City.
broken schools? KC has some of the best schools in the country. NKC, Liberty, Lee's Summit all serve KCMO residents. there's one district out of *13* that's having problems
evaporating tax base? KC's population hit it's low in the 1990s, is on a rebound and it's credit rating is stable (which you don't get with dropping revenue)
Oh that guy. He's in the loop with the development clique. Frightening isn't it?
ReplyDeleteLogic is an enemy and Truth is a menace to the Streetcar Cabal. it's becoming very obvious as the days go by.
ReplyDeleteDowntown Streetcar Tax Scammers
ReplyDeleteIf Rusty and Sly and the gang were so interested in open honest transparent vibrant collaborative entrepreneurial world class organic gubmint maybe they wouldn't treat everyone but their paid lapdogs at the st*r like total shit.
ReplyDeleteFuck em all. No to the streetcar tax, anyone but sly in 2015
9:33: I think they're talking about the part of KC that's in Jackson County and the KCPS.
ReplyDeleteThere is not a single argument for the Streetcar that holds any water.
ReplyDeleteIt is small, slow, expensive, and will be a total embarrassing joke less than a year into its running.
If bowl-haircutted Kevin Carlyle is the face of the toy train... I'd rather walk. What a complete fucking doofus.
ReplyDeleteKevin, Kevin, Kevin...puleeze stop with the insane info you are putting out. Do some research. Your comments are boring because there is no substance that is believable.
ReplyDeleteGo see your Mom.
I published his address below one of his stupid comments once. He shut up and stopped posting for about 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteKevin Carlyle doesn't even live in KCMO. He lives in Liberty. I think he might be on Dave Johnson's or Staubio's payroll.
ReplyDeleteI think Kevin Carlyle suffer's from Asperger's. I'm not kidding. I thought that he lived in the River Market but maybe he moved? Anyway, the point of the streetcar by Russ Johnson's admission is economic development, so to point to NKC and Liberty as good school districts serving Kansas City is a joke.
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, when crime "peaked" in 1992, it was nationwide. Cities all over the country have been successful at reducing crime at a much more rapid pace than Kansas City. In fact, our violent crime rate is higher per capita than Chicago, so there's no polishing that turd.
We might be growing our tax base among young kids, but we're losing large businesses to the suburbs, and more and more people to rural areas.
We all would like to find a way to convince people to move back into the city, but a train on Main Street will not have the same affect that reduced crime or quality public schools would have. I live here, and I can tell you what is important to me and my neighbors.
A UMKC study revealed Northeast's top six concerns were related to crime, and public transit was number 14. I'm open to hearing ideas for public transit improvements, but not for half a billion dollars and with no input from my community before choosing streetcar as THE ONLY option.
Kevin Carlyle? Is that the fat kid from UMKC that lives in his parent's basement?
ReplyDeleteI've started to notice a trend with the pro-streetcar people. they either live in their parent's basements, or else they recently moved here from rural Kansas. All are 20-somethings. I got news for you idiots. KC is not Chicago. If you like big urban areas with trains, you should have moved there. Now get out of KC, pack your bags, and get your asses on the first train to Illinois.
TO send your kids to schools in Lees Summit or Liberty you have to actually live in those districts. I agree the kid probably has Aspergers. His photo says it all.
ReplyDeleteShitty to make fun of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder, I don't care who you are. And there is no particular "look" that anyone with ASD has. They look just like you.
ReplyDeleteHe's obsessed with trains and has a bowl haircut. Case closed.
ReplyDeleteI've known a lot of people who have Aspergers. They look like just about everyone else except they rarely look you in the eye and they are unable to pick up on social clues. Many of them function quite well, but they're not exactly the kind of people you want to have interacting with the public.
ReplyDeleteIf he does have Aspergers and if he's the one who keeps makeing the pithy remarks (like sue and Susie), that would be consistent with the behavior of the people I know with Aspergers. I also wouldn't be surprised if the sheepshagger has Aspergers.
The Trolley Track Trail...built on ROW set aside for transit. A trail subsidized by tax payers. Why don't Brooksiders impose a TDD on themselves to actually pay for the improvements they enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'm not making fun of anyone with Asperger's. I am simply pointing out that he exhibits signs of that. Jesus.
