TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! TROLLEY TRACK TRAIL SUPPORTERS PLAN LEGAL ACTION AGAINST KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR BROOKSIDE EXPANSION!!!

Last night the people of Brookside got their first glimpse of an angry Mayor Sly James and streetcar advocates looking rather frustrated and flustered.

To wit . . .

THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ENCOUNTERED SERIOUS OPPOSITION IN BROOKSIDE AND A MEETING LAST NIGHT BROUGHT MAYOR SLY AND STREETCAR CHEERLEADERS TO A FULL STOP!!!

The Mayor's propaganda didn't last for long . . . And we hear that it was kinda cool that somebody told local real estate mogul Whitney Kerr to pipe down. (lolz)

Anyhoo . . . From the get go . . . The Mayor and toy train supporters were on the defensive . . .

Public testimony basically started with the folks in Brookside pleading that they simply couldn't afford more taxes to pay for the pricey line.

Also . . . Streetcars so close to residential neighborhoods with kids running around proved to be a concern for the crowd.

Even worse . . . The Mayor's presentation was HORRIBLE according to folks at the meeting as Mayor Sly dropped his nice guy routine when confronted with real opposition.

One KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER seyz: "The Mayor was combative, angry and made a really poor presentation . . . The main thing I came away with is that people in Brookside just don't trust City Hall to keep their word about the streetcar plans after such a deceptive downtown election."

One more thing . . .

While Mayor Sly and City Council dude Russ Johnson attended the meeting . . .

MORE THAN A FEW IN THE CROWD NOTICED THE COUNCIL MEMBERS MARCASON, GLOVER AND SHARP WERE ABSENT FROM THIS IMPORTANT VOTER DISCUSSION IN THEIR DISTRICTS!!!

But it gets even better and here's the real news that mainstream media has missed so far . . .

BROOKSIDE OPPONENTS TO KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN EXPANSION ARE PLANNING LEGAL ACTION TO STOP THE STREETCAR IN ITS TRACKS!!!

Don't take the word of TKC for it . . .

Check this timeline that notes LEGAL PAPERWORK FOR OPPOSITION AGAINST THE PLAN TO BE FILED THIS MONTH according to a timeline distributed at the meeting!!!

Never mind that the toy train needs to turn East and go into 18th and Vine to help revive the East Side district . . . For now this opposition has COMPLETELY DERAILED streetcar cheerleaders.

Want to see streetcar despriation?

Streetcar cheerleaders are even spoofing Facebook pages in a pathetic attempt to create confusion. . .

Save The Trolley Trail folks are organizing on this FB page.

Meanwhile . . .

The streetcar consultants and fakers have created a spoof page to try and trick social media denizens . . . They're even using the a similar tag/about line to complete their deception.

In conclusion . . . These topics dominated the discussion . . .

- Opposition To Higher Toy Train TAXES

- Concern About More Dangerous Streetcar TRAFFIC so close to a residential area.

- And Saving the TROLLEY TRACK TRAIL

But it's worth noting that last night in Brookside the meeting HOSTED A PACKED HOUSE IN DIRECT OPPOSITION TO THE STREETCAR . . . Meanwhile Mayor Sly's beautiful smile was nowhere in sight and Kansas City got to see the first glimpse of the Mayor's ANGRY FACE that has heretofore only been shown to political insiders.

Here are really good links that covered the story but didn't report the upcoming legal action against the streetcar expansion:

KMBC: Mayor James aims to ease worries about popular trail's future

Fox4: One neighborhood wants KC’s rail to steer clear of a beloved trail

  1. This plan has to be one of the worst.

Worse than even the Linwood joke.

  2. You forgot the part where the organizer said that the would be no debate allowed during his presentation, and then bickered all the way through the Mayor's presentation. And the woman who said that young people hate transit. And the guy who accused all the streetcar supporters there last night of being government plants and spies. And the woman who lives on Brookside Boulevard but is concerned more about her kids being hit by a trolley than the cars driving 45mph past her house. And the woman who was there to complain about her neighborhood newsletter. And the fact that only 20 people bothered to show up. Good for the Mayor for calling these people out as the wingnuts they are.

  3. These are the same freaks who opposed the Trolley Trail originally, arguing it would attract the wrong element. They opposed A JOGGING TRAIL. They are racist NIMBYs.

    ReplyDelete
  4. There were more people sitting in the Roasterie last night than there were at this meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  5. You guys know Tony writes his own "Kickass Tipster" quotes, right?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I see Sly's damage control people are busy this morning.

  7. Still, it's too bad that KCMO doesn't have a city government with elected people who actually try to provide some leadership based on truth-tellin, credibility, and results for residents.
Instead you have insider and behind-the-scenes deals, broken promises, taxes proposed for one thing and money spent for another, legal games with citizen petitions, earnings, property, and sales taxes siphoned away from basic services for glamour projects, outright lies, gerrymandered elections, and terrible basic services.
There are 115 municipalities in the metro area and not ONE collaborates with KCMO. Why do you think that is?
    Behavior has consequences.
    World class.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why is this ass hole Mayor so obsessesd with his fucking street car while basic services turn to crap? I'm sure all the black folk will re elect him though.

  9. Sue Burke needs to get a life.

  10. The only "wingnut" I see in this whole contest, is that stupid assed, Mayor James. What a freak!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I live in brookside and went to the meeting with an open mind. This was no meeting. More like, 20 children fighting for a toy, yelling at people to sit down, talking about HOA problems, It was a complete embarrassment. I think I will support the streetcar just to get these nut jobs out of my neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Brookside, home of failures.

    ReplyDelete
  13. This is a case of one bunch of fanatics (Don't touch that trail!) fighting with another (You're going to have that streetcar whether you want it or not!). It's hard to have sympathy for either, but at least the trail people won't cost any more money.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hell no Brookside doesn't trust Sly!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think the Mayor is about to find out why it isn't a good idea to run rough shod over people. He did it downtown. He will not be able to do it in Brookside.

    ReplyDelete
  16. All very promising developments. The James gang will die with their train.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Interesting how Sly and crew sprung into action when they found out the opposition was having a meeting addressing their legitimate concerns about this boondoggle isn't it?

I'm surprised the streetcar supporters didn't have some hipster get up and sing...

People get ready, there's a train a coming, you don't need no ticket, you just get on board!!!!

  18. This will take all the parking in Wornall and 75th. No more MAX bus. Businesses closing Tanners, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sharp is only interested in other district's issues not his.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Everyone who is against the streetcar is a crazy anti progress suburban but job we don't care about you! Move to Kansas we won't miss you

    ReplyDelete
  21. Looks like those obnoxious trolley pushers have finally met their match. About time.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Say what you want, I think this sounds like the Waldo WalMart proposal.

What they say is stop this change to avoid traffic problems, or some other diversion.

What they really want is to kill this proposal to keep out a new influx of low income black and brown people into the Brookside and Waldo neighborhoods.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 10:49: I live in Waldo and supported the WalMart grocery store, and I'm on the fence on the streetcar. Playing the race card, as you're doing, will only make me oppose the streetcar. Besides it makes you look ignorant because we already have black and brown people here.

You might want to take a look at today's "Non Sequitur." (It's a cartoon in the Star. The Star is a daily newspaper.)

  24. I was there and Sly absolutely tried to take over. But the leader of the meeting stood her ground, got face to face with Sly. Good for her. And the person who said there were 20 people there-wrong. Sign up sheet had a head count of 80. We've just begun...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sly and the crew will have their people in here trying to make it look like nobody was there and they was all nice nice and so forth. Well Mr Mayor you don't fool us anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sly is a Bully.

    ReplyDelete
  27. People need to start thinking about why they should be voting for everything the city wants. They should be voting no on all city proposals because they do not respect anybody. The city water bonds should be an easy NO vote since city hall does not want an audit.

  29. Boondoggle. Tax increase. Increased traffic problems. Tax increase. Residents won't use the toy train. Tax increase. School continue to be the worst in nation. Tax increase. Water leaks continue to appear like underground springs. Tax increase. P&L district was a HUGE taxpayer burden. Tax increase. KCMO roads crumbling right before our eyes. Tax increase.

Is it clear now why we don't need a toy train?

  31. Not even mid day and we have several more things to be unhappy about.

Wonder why no one likes to play with us.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You know trains and street cars are fine when you have a surplus budget. Instead, they seek to swipe money from the citizens and fill the coffers of contractors who have friends in city hall.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love how most of these comments are from Sly's streetcar supporters. How you doing today, Matt Staub? Having fun writing all the crap?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Time to get tough people and vote these fools out of office.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was there last night and saw our mayor get aggressive and in-your-face to the meeting's leader. Never having seen him at a public meeting before, I just thought he always acts this way. He demanded to know who she wants to see on his new "advisory committee" and she finally said "how about everyone here?" He said no.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You think mike sanders tax assessment fuck up was bad - your already high taxes in brookside will skyrocket if this streetcar thing passes and your taxes will be way over mike sanders' original overtax.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This meeting exceeded all expectations of the organizers. Thank you neighbors. A point I'd like to make involves the number in attendance. I think it's a very good sign that at least 80+ very concerned neighbors and about a dozen pro streetcar folks including the mayor, his bodyguard and a bevy of pro, wannabe and semi-pro agitators bothered to show up on a very cold and snowy night. At least the streets were clear enough to get there, thank you Mr. James. Reading the wailing and gnashing, name calling and tittering from the useful idiot agitators and their use of all the usual insults normally reserved for non-Democrats I have to chuckle. Brookside is a predominantly liberal area. A casual drive through the hood fall before last would have revealed a 10:1 ratio of Obama to Romney signs, and yet these geniuses are using the very same snark and invective they would at a bunch of Tea Party people. I find the whole thing truly funny.

  38. Like his Airport Advisory Committee, this will be rigged. 20 people for it one against.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Very few of the mostly young boosters of this fiasco will be paying for it. In fact, they'll be letting their loft leases end and heading for Prairie Village with their spouses and kids looking for good schools, safe neighborhoods, and a yard to play in way before the 20-year $10-15 milllion/year bond payments barely get started.
Sly and the empty-headed councilmembers who think they're riding some kind of hipster/millenial popularity wave driven by other people's money should all be booted out the door at the first opportunity.
And take their bow ties and Aboulhalkah with them.

  42. Sly and the Dysfunctional Council love the toy train because they desperately want to point to new physical infrastructure and say "I got that built during my term!" It's what many politicians rely on to stoke their ego. It's inconsequential to them whether the new project was needed or supported by the public.

A practical, common-sense leader would concentrate on maintenance and upgrades of the existing physical plant (streets, bridges, water/sewer, customer service, etc.) before EVER spending money on a totally new project.

Good luck to Brookside/Waldo residents in standing up for your neighborhood, as you wish to see it changed, or not.

  43. Another Midtown Mom2/6/14, 2:08 PM

No need for the racial stuff. What I think missing is that these folks were willing to go out in the snow and take this meeting to stop the streetcar. That shows dedication. Maybe people need to thing about that! Lol!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sharp forgot that area is part of the 6th district now...

    ReplyDelete
  45. 1.) That "racial stuff" is typically false flag nonsense from the agitators pushing the streetcar. They are trying to brand the opposition in Brookside as "racist" for not supporting the streetcar. Again, the humorous part is that BKS is overwhelmingly liberal, mostly professionals and university folks.
2.) The dysfunctional council and mayor could direct their energies and finances toward improving the school district and curbing violent crime. These things are difficult and would be worthy of our respect and gratitude. Instead they are more interested in a money grab and the Detroitification of Kansas City.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why does kansas city need a train that goes to Prospect and 85th St? Is there anything out there? Someone should look in to that, and see what is going on out there.

  47. If Kerr was there, then he's got a stake in this at the end of the line. What are they buildimng out there?
